On Saturday, a rich 25-year-old man, Jovan Belcher, murdered his 22-year-old girlfriend, the mother of his child. First, columnist Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports suggested that this 25-year-old kid wasnt responsible for his actions it was the gun culture that was to blame. Then, Bob Costas of NBC repeats this idiotic notion, even though the 62, 228 lb. linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs could easily have murdered his girlfriend with a knife.
Now CNN is getting in on the act. Leading their website this afternoon is an op-ed from Kevin Powell, former Democratic Congressional candidate in New York, and cast member on MTVs original season of The Real World. Powells contention: its Americas culture of manliness that led Belcher to blow away his girlfriend and then turn the gun on himself. That culture of manliness includes men hiding their emotion, machoness, and homophobia.

CNN.
Heh.
Losers.
All of them.
Just think. Just one more hug for someone might have saved him. That and not having to wear all that pink crap during the October games.
Well then, let’s BAN FOOTBALL!
cough - steroids - cough
NFL will go to flag football soon.
Yet nary a word from the left about crime. Nary a word when a gun saves a self-protector.
Unless of course it’s a “hate” crime
How long before we have metrosexual football with limp wristed announcers critiquing the players uniforms.
Rap culture is to blame. I don’t see many hockey players in the headlines very often. Oooops, was that racist?
That’s RACIST!!
Can we just confiscate every gun in the hand of civilians? Then there would be zero deaths by gun violence.
But wait a minute....how do we get the guns from criminals and law breakers? I don’t think they will willingly give up their gun by suddenly abiding laws. They are law breakers in the first place because they do not follow law they do not like.
The liberals never explain how they will accomplish the task of getting guns out of the hands of law breakers. So if all guns were made illegal, only the law abiding people would have no guns while criminals still have them.
No thanks.
If only he had been involuntarily feminized in school and taught that his gender was a social construct.
Maybe we just don't have enough queers on primetime TV. Yeah. That's the problem. Too many heteros right out there in the open.
What would O.J. have done had he not had a gun? KILLED NICOLE AND RON ANYWAY.
Whats the big deal and fuss over this loser?? The way I see it he did America a Favor and the Liberals and Demoncrats should be proud of this guy, He successfully performed 2 post-term Abortions at no cost to the Taxpayers.
Glowbull Warming made him do it!
Back in the dark ages of 1968, when the US was going through the madness and national panic after the murder of Bobby Kennedy, a magazine (can’t remember which one) printed a big anti-gun article.
The next issue had a letter-to-the-Editor in which the writer mentioned that MEXICO had more murders with KNIVES than the US had in gun murders.
The editor responded by saying that Mexico’s problem was it’s “culture of MACHO, which we do not have here.”
Well, it’s here.
The demise is scripted out already. One state will stand up by 2016 and present evidence of concussions causing damage to high school players. It’ll take two years but they will determine that both ice hockey and football have to terminate. A year later...two more states outlaw it...even at the college level. These states will be ones without NFL franchises.
So a debate will occur. Meanwhile, in the states affected, there are no more kids recruited for football. The decent kids who had chances in these three states? Their parents move to southern states where the kid still has a chance. By 2025, another four states will join, with California outlawing high school football entirely by that point. It spells the eventual demise of all college football in the state.
Somewhere by 2030, the NFL comes to an end. With retired players in their 40s and 50s carrying out lawsuits...the NFL can no longer operate at a profitable level. It ends with a great curiosity over what sport can survive and take over in the fall?
If Nicole Brown Simpson had a firearm she and Ron Goldman might be alive today.
Who knows, she might even be a RICH widow!
Where is the National Organization of Women making a statement on violence against women? It was not just a murder. It was 6 hours of fighting then a killing manifest of 9 gunshots. Was this woman abused? Need to look into it. Was this steroid rage in action? Need to look into that. Was this killing a result of drug-induced altered state of consciousness? Need to look into that. Way, way, way, way down the list in gun violence. I wonder, If she had had a weapon, would he have killed her? Could she have defended herself and killed her assailant? Perhaps. Now, it is too late to ocnsider that which is unknowable.
What did they say about Sahel Kazemi and Steve McNair?
But if it really turns out this way, do the Cleveland Browns ever make a Super Bowl before the sport is abolished?
Real men don’t beat women. REAL men don’t have to prove they’re men. And REAL men aren’t afraid of REAL women.
What did they say about Sahel Kazemi and Steve McNair?
CNN
the dude was mad cos the gf was going for child support that’s all
Ban ALL competition...that is the answer. While you are at it, ban meritocracy and self-motivation.
Obama voters should not be allowed to own guns. They could care less about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights so I don’t think that they’d have a problem with that. Besides, they all wet themselves when somebody shows them a picture of a gun.
Would everyone feel better if I pee sitting down?
Was the punk on ADHD drugs when he was a youngster?

Belcher a sociopath sounds like
CNN is actually getting close. Remove his position as head of family and watch the explosion. Pick your poison on the method.
Leftwingers in media excusing the cruel act of murder. Those Leftwings can go FOAD.
“That culture of manliness includes men hiding their emotion, machoness, and homophobia.”
That caused him to kill the mother of his child??
The idiot who said that is not a man - wonder what he is?
The only person or thng responsible for Jovan Belcher’s crimes but Jovan Belcher. End of story. He was a 25 year old adult.
We have become a pretty sick society when people are no longer responsible for their actions..its always someone elses fault..when people buy a house they can’t afford and it gets foreclosed, its not their fault for buying a house they can’t afford, nope, its the fault of the bank..or when someone drives drunk and kills someone, its not the fault of the driver, nope, its the fault of the alcohol or the car..its always someone elses fault..no one takes responsibility for anything anymore..its Obama’s America, where no one is to blame..well, no one except for Bush of course
Well being manly is not something the vast majority of news personalities have to worry about.
“adult” seems to have become a technicality these days
I seriously think that's the goal of limp-wrist nannystatism. And we seem to be well on our way.
I used to think France was the most effeminate culture on the globe. The USSA -- with Obama as our national Majorette -- seems determined to take this dubious *honor*.
Yeah, the “culture of manliness” includes siring a children out of wedlock./s

They’ll be playing Zortball on the moons of Neptune before the Browns make the Super Bowl.
I detest Obama but this stuff has been going on long before Obama took office.
Remember the Twinkie defense?
.
Pardon the grammatical error and the double post. I’m loaded.
Bob Costas is a guy, a photogenic guy, who comments on things he himself has never done with any degree of competency, i.e., sports. In other words, he is a pretty face who exercises his lips. He has no other expertise in his subject area.
Costas’ commentary on societal norms and laws is the commentary of, at best, an observer, a non-participant (he doesn’t move about in normal society, he is above it). He is another example of celebrity delusion. Because he regularly has the opportunity to speak to millions, he assumes it is because of who he is and what he knows rather than, simply, what he does for a living.
In reality he is at best a naif too full of himself, and at worst a self-appointed judge, presuming to render a verdict on things he really doesn’t understand.
Maybe Anderson Cooper can put together an hour-long CNN news special on this ‘icky nature’ of manliness.
Lol!
WTF would the pantywaists at CNN know about "Manliness"???
Ain’t that the truth. They’ve never had a snaffler who can narfle the garthok, and they never will!
No one forced him to buy a gun....it was his choice. No whitewashing his behavior...Could have used a knife just as easy....or baseball bat or drugs....
Yeah I remember that..of course there has always been people making excuses for the actions of others but it seems to have gotten much much worse under Obama
