A U.N. conference that kicked off today in Dubai has sparked fear of Internet censorship in the U.S. -- something U.S. Ambassador Terry Kramer said he is doing everything in his power to prevent.
Nothing regarding the Internet do we want subject to U.N. review and regulation, Kramer told FoxNews.com.
Monday marked the first day of an 11-day conference. Kramer, who leads the U.S. delegation at the conference, said that the first day had gone well and so far delegates are still in the early stage, talking about what should be reviewed when. No specific regulations have been debated yet.
But regulations likely to come up soon are far reaching with signification ramifications, ranging from changes to the way web addresses like ".com" are distributed to charging websites for sending information (for example, a company like Google or Amazon could be required to pay cable companies a charge every time someone used their site.)

While almost all of the U.N. meeting is secret, many documents have leaked, including one proposal from the Russian delegation declaring "the sovereign right
to regulate the national Internet segment."
My bet - Obama jumps up and say he loves the idea, and tries to make it happen.

Defund, stop importing. WTF is the problem?
Can't we just say ‘no’? Why will that not work?
translation.... We are secretly handing the internet over to the UN
Because we have a government that may NOT say no.
...the same way they stopped Mexican drug gangs by arming them?
Sure they want to regulate the internet, then they will need to enforce regulation...so how will they do that, with a global internet tax of course; so, on and on it goes where it will stop nobody knows.
You got it, I fear. This bloody government is NOT a friend of freedom.
Trouble is, most of the (leftist) pols in DC actually WANT to see the UN become THE world government. It’s the pipe-dream they’re all working to see come to fruition.
Even the extreme liberals at Google are against this.
TRYING to prevent? What happened to the once great and powerful United States? Oh that’s right, we elected a limp-wristed bunch of politicians to run our country (into the ground).
Yep - and lots of them...
Back to short-wave? Or maybe move on to the next great invention...?
Of course - their gravy-train put in the hands of an international body of dim-wits... now all of a sudden they find value in freedom they never thought would threaten THEM!
So who really are the dim-wits? They are! They're looking at the fruits of their imbecilic political belief and seeing it for what it really leads to.
What do you mean “trying to stop”?
What kind of crap is that?
Just tell them no!
I don’t know Ambassador Kramer. But I suspect the only appropriate response to an Obama administration official saying they are trying to prevent censorship is, “Liar Liar, pants on fire.”
This is like Obama saying he’s not going to try to limit gun rights or when he said he was opposed to homosexual marriage. Everyone knew he was lying. Noone in the old media cared because they consider them good lies.
How about telling them that they obviously have too much time and money and we are cutting our dues.
How about telling them to get the hell out and not one single $ more to them or their commie cronies?
BS. The US Moslem government supports the takeover.
Would someone, anyone, please explain why the hell we need the UN in the first place? they are a “do nothing” organization that has been sucking the $ out of WE, the tax payers for years. IMO they should be run out of this country as non-effective and go their own way WITHOUT the American dollars. What have they ever done to promote peace in the world. Seems they are ineffective where ever they go. Useless bunch of self appointed “do nothings”.
