New lawmakers urged to reject God, prayer

New House and Senate members are being urged to reject an invitation to join the 105-strong Congressional Prayer Caucus by the influential American Humanist Association which claims there is no evidence of God or Heaven.

In a letter to new lawmakers following last week's election, the group warned that Prayer Caucus members too often push legislation that favors Christianity and Christian social morals and that senators and congressmen should abide the Constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.

They also indicated opposition to the practice of opening and closing each session of Congress with a prayer, which "relegates non-religious Americans and others who don't pray to the status of second-class citizens," according to American Humanist Association Executive Director Roy Speckhardt.

The Tree isn’t dead yet, but I think it’s on life support.

“I will never understand why atheists care if others believe in God”

Me either. I once held a job in the same building complex as Madelyn Murray O’Hare’s American Atheists organization in Austin, Texas.

Bitter, hostile and belligerent hardly begins to describe the ugly face they showed the world. Fanatics dedicated to a negative principle really bewilder me.

Anyway, the proof is in the pudding I guess, as it was a member of that organization that murdered and chopped up her and her family, for the mundane reason of theft.

Statists cannot tolerate people who hold to a greater loyalty than the State. Even the relatively easy going Romans were incensed by this. I’ve even seen it here a few times.

“Country First” sounds good on first hearing, but it is a whacked priority.

Neither is there any scientific evidence for right and wrong or good and bad or "social justice" . . . but that doesn't keep atheists and humanists from acting as if there were.

I would also add that in my opinion, most atheists actually do think that God exists. And this scares them. And angers them. They don't like God. They are hoping they can make Him go away by putting their fingers in their ears and saying "I can't hear you!"""""......

Glad you said that and I AGREE.

Atheists DO BELIEVE IN GOD (the I AM), there is no other reason to protest HIM, if HE did not exist.

beause many important laws have some kind of morality reason behind them. libs know it, conservatives know it. he whole “you can’t legislate morality” is garbage and both sides know it. while you can’t force everyone to obey any law, you can pass a law that is based in a moral viewpoint. and most people respect the rule of law, and if no, fear consequences of breaking the law.

it boils down to which sides’ morality is going to win. the atheists are pissed they are a very small minority, and are terribly unsuccessful at gettng people to their viewpoint. they want their morality codified in law, but lack power and suppot to do so. if they were the majority, like all libs, they’d be screaming about majority rule and “more people believe what they do so the law must change to reflect the will of the people” when they are the tiny minority, you get the current system is tyranny of the majority, the majority are stupid and need to be saved from their stupidity, etc.

The apostle Paul already had their number a couple of thousand years ago:

Romans 1

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

I will never understand why atheists care if others believe in God.

Without God the state is the only god. We are made in the image of God. That makes us sovergn onto ourselves, individuals, and at odds with their god. We are the enemy of their belief system, their core. We also reminder them of the battle within, the inconsistency that exist in their worldview. Remember that ones's individual rights and statism are mutually exclusive.

If it doesn't make sense, then somewhere the premise is wrong. These "atheists" obviously care very strongly and deeply in something (a God of their own, I guess) else besides God. Wouldn't you say?

Simply stated, they are: "haters of God,".

But, powerless to stop HIM. Amen
