A report released Monday claimed employment for America's youth is at the lowest level it's been since World War II.
According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation's study titled "Youth and Work: Restoring Teen and Young Adult Connections to Opportunity," "6.5 million people ages 16 to 24 are both out of school and out of work, statistics that suggest dire consequences for financial stability and employment prospects in that population."
The findings are truly disturbing.
"Entry-level jobs at fast-food restaurants and clothing stores that high school dropouts once could depend on to start their careers now go to older workers with better experience and credentials," the report said. "It often takes a GED to get a job flipping hamburgers."
The consequences for our economy are dire.
"When young people lack connections to jobs and school, government spends more to support them. Many already have children of their own, exacerbating the intergenerational cycle of poverty in some communities."

People are obviously happy with what they are getting.
Once lost, these skills are not easily regained by a society. Look at Haiti. Do the people there behave in a way that can build a successful society? No, they do not. Why didn't their parents raise them with the skills to build a successful society? Well, because the parents didn't have the skills either. Now it's pretty hopeless.
We are a banana republic.
How’s that Hope and Change workin’ out for ya, younguns???
This is all by design. The socialist/communist takeover of our schools has created 2 generations of numbskulls who think that wealth comes from government rule. Trying to explain to them how America is supposed to work is like trying to explain calculus to a rhesus macacque.
Or they turn to politics to address their needs and demand government create jobs for them with NRA 2.0. (since Obama has managed to keep them engaged through 2 election cycles I think this likely)
And just when is “since WW II”? Do you mean during the depression? I started high school in 1938, and I always had a job. Then, after I graduated from high school in 1942, here were lots of jobs available because the men were being drafted, so I worked till the war was over and I had enough money to go to college. After the war ended, there was a boom in jobs, and I worked all through college.
I don’t see much difference today. If you want a job, there is always one available. My granddaughter had two jobs last summer, and she is now a senior in high school.
The only fly in the ointment right now are guns -- if we can protect ourselves, then the lords cannot have the level of control and enforced "respect" that they require. The guns have got to go. If the Left can manage that, then we will truly be back in the Manorial Age.
What makes people think that these youngens actually want to work in the first place?? Sorry I just don’t see it that way, what I see is a bunch of spoiled brats who have been taught their whole lives that they are special and entitled, they can all DIE IN THE STREET as far as I am concerned. I just Don’t Care Anymore.
We need a candidate that, while espousing the core conservative values and policy positions, matches the Democratic “hip and cool” image that sways younger demographics and, at least some, single women. Romney, essentially an older, “uncool” rich white guy, doesn’t have anything resembling that. This approach is not about “winning over” an entire demographic (which would be impossible). It’s about grabbing 10-20% more of them in an effort to create the necessary majorities in the key states. Conservatives need to push forward an under 50 non-white or ethnic male or female who exudes “cool” and intelligence, simultaneously. Hillary Clinton, if she runs in 2016, will mop the floor with all other types. Her attractiveness with the female vote will be close to indomitable if not countered by a once-in-a generation, rock-star type conservative. Old White Men need not apply anymore.
The answer is clear — time for another $10 billion, federally-funded jobs program to get these kids make-work jobs.
Products of public school, feminism, and rewarding everyone equally.
Young people love Obama and what he does to them.
As an aside, the Annie E. Casey foundation is a leftist outfit.
