Former President George W. Bush ambled back into the spotlight Tuesday to laud legal immigration, a decade after he helped inflate the real-estate bubble to its 2007 peak while trying to boost homeownership among Hispanics.
“America is a nation of immigrants. … Immigrants can help build a dynamic tomorrow. … They invigorate our soul,” Bush said at the keynote speech of a one-day symposium on immigration’s role in the economy at the Dallas-based George W. Bush Institute.
“Growing up in Texas we have had the honor and privilege of meeting many of the newly arrived,” the former president said. “They see education as bright future for their children, some will willingly defend the flag.”
That pitch was echoed by several panel speakers, including Steven Moore, a libertarian economist and columnist at the Wall Street Journal. On one trip to border farms, Moore enthused, he met a crop-picking Mexican who was working three low-wage jobs.
“That’s the kind of person we need in this country,” he declared.

In my understanding, it was that George Herbert Walker Bush was Reagan’s concession to the country-club type Republicans. G.H.W. Bush referred to Reagan’s ideas as voodoo economics, before that. Looking back, it doesn’t seem like they learned much in 8 years, does it? So long as they can get cheap labor to clean their pools, mow their lawns...
HE DID NOT help inflate the RE bubble - so with the author starting out on that lie - he already exposed himself as a liar and didn't read anymore of his garbage.

Ours is a nation with a culture of it’s own. If you swamp a nation with it’s own culture, in short order you will overwhelm it, morph it, destroy it.
Why should we give up our culture? Our Constitution, probably the best one ever devised, becomes worth less as millions come here and ignore it.
There isn’t a group of people on the planet I would support coming to this nation in numbers worth tens of millions in less than twenty years. This is exactly what we’re allowing Mexican nationals to do. And now, you seem to advocate for doing this with countless other cultures.
Why W? Why would you want to flood our nation with half it’s present population in twenty to thirty years?
Our schools don’t teach the good that our Founding Fathers did to our current students. The authorities will not teach the newcomers. The newcomers will not speak our language. They won’t understand our values. They will advocate for their on values as a group.
How is any of this a plus for our nation?
On principle, I’m not against newcomers per se. As long as those newcomers become one of us, instead of becoming a separate culture within our borders, I don’t mind new people.
That is the farthest thing from what is taking place today.
In the interest of the diversity gods, that is considered to be sacrilegious.
I don’t bow down to those gods.
There’s only one reason we need more U. S. Citizens, and you and your fellow travelers know what that reason is. You helped usher in the new Chinese model, a Communist adversary with our complete patent and manufacturing base.
Twenty years ago, we didn’t need a population bomb to survive. Now we do.
You and a number of others deserve to be called to acount for what you have done, the danger you increased by your actions/inactions. In that you are not being called to account, you should consider yourself lucky and shut the hell up.
Instead you keep raising your head up to make matters worse.
The legacy you have left this nation, damns you. It is with sorrow that I realize how much you have destroyed your family’s image.
You have a lot to be repentant about Mr. President. Please come to terms with that, before spouting off about what we should come to terms with.
Y’all can have Texas, I’ll keep my Wyoming. Texas went “red” in the last election by only 57%. I’ll bet in a few more election cycles it goes blue.

Plenty of banks (and the Federal Reserve) want to tap into the money that’s sent from the U.S. to foreign countries, whether the money was earned illegally or not. And, plenty of banks want to tap into related markets such as opening savings and checking accounts for illegal aliens or giving them home loans. They know the money was earned illegally, but they don’t care. And, they find plenty of corrupt politicians willing to help them profit from illegally-earned money in exchange for campaign contributions or other benefits.
