Facing Fiscal Cliff, Obama Goes Overboard on Christmas Trees and Vacation
GOP USA ^ | 12/4/2012 | Staff Writers

So, what does the president of the United States do to set a good example as the country faces a looming financial meltdown? He keeps spending and spending. For this Christmas season, not only did Obama call for significantly more Christmas trees in the White House than last year, but he's also getting ready for a $4 million vacation to Hawaii.

As reported by Investors Business Daily, taxpayers will be paying for 54 Christmas trees this year which will adorn the White House. That's a 50% increase in trees over last year.

Amazing how a reelection can reshape an incumbent's thinking about many things. Now safely ensconced in the White House for 49 more months, the Obamas have decorated the place with 54 Christmas trees this year.

Even allowing for the usual Washington excesses with taxpayer money, that's a whole grove of Christmas trees.

"We have 54 trees in the White House," an excited Michelle Obama proudly told visitors the other day. "54! That's a lot of trees."

But that's not all. That's just decorations. The Obamas are also getting ready for their Christmas vacation to Hawaii. It's a vacation that will cost taxpayers $4 million.

From The Washington Times:

The prospect of pitching over the federal "fiscal cliff" isn't stopping the White House from moving forward with President Obama's year-end Hawaii vacation plans.

Even as Republicans and Democrats report minimal progress so far in talks to meet a deadline to avoid sharp tax hikes and spending cuts, the White House was moving forward with the first family's and friends' $4 million vacation to Mr. Obama's native state.

Residents living near the beachfront homes in Kailua where President Obama has vacationed every year since 2008 received alerts this week about the restrictions and expected travel disruptions associated with the president and first family's visit, according to a story in the Hawaii Reporter.

Apparently, a bunch of extra Christmas trees and a $4 million vacation are no big deal to a president who has run up more debt than any other in history. How about setting a good example, Mr. President?

For the next four years there will be a multitude of Obozo family fun vacations at your and my expense.

This whole term will be nothing but spending by him and Chewbacca. Plus he will be globe trotting to set up deals and speaking engagements to sustain him for life when he is no longer Prez. He cares not a damn what happens to the country as long as his needs are met.

Impeach this psycopath! He's killing us!

Obama is a marxist, Muslim, anti-American, Kenyan, evil communist who stole the election and who with the democrat party is trying to enslave Americans.

We should demand his immediate resignation and return to constitutional government.

Obama hates and doesn’t even recognize Christmas, but he’s doing this just out of spite.

Zero's actions speak louder than his words - which certainly are plentiful. THIS IS SIMPLY HIS WAY OF PUSHING THE DAGGER INTO THE HEART OF THE GOP.

What does the GOP do? It offers up $800 BILLION in new taxes - so much for folk saying they are GOING to cave. They already have. Rest In Peace Republicans.

My voting for the balance of my short life here on earth will be only in local and state elections.

The no good SOB should be put up in front of a firing squad.

This is the end of America and the fools who voted for him are too ignorant to even be allowed to cast a ballot.

The republicans should be screaming this from the rooftops, but they are a bunch of wimps.

To be fair: I am sure these are “Holiday Trees,” not Christmas Trees.

oh you better not work.
you better not try.
you better not earn.
I’m telling you why.

Obama Claus is coming to town.

he’ll tell you to be thankful.
to bow down and give thanks.
or he’ll send you to a FEMA camp.
to get your thinking “straight”.

oh you better not work.
you better not try.
you better not earn.
I’m telling you why.
Obama Claus is coming to town.

he’ll give you a free cell phone.
say Obamacare is great.
he’ll tell you being a success.
is something you should hate.

oh you better not work.
you better not try.
you better not earn.
I’m telling you why.

Three more trees and he'd have one for each of the 57 states.

We've already decided there will be no gift giving here this year.

I printed it out. Bringing it to work tomorrow and will sing it to my boss.

He’s white, a successful small business owner and a jooooo! We had a talk about that yesterday. I said what I just stated, we were talking about how I’m still bummed out about the election.

He said “you know what Jeanie, I’m proud to be everyone of those things”. He said he’s formulating a plan, that we’ll be okay.

Bummed out isn’t correct. Perhaps shaken to my core is more proper.

Lets all just hold hands, sing Kumbaya, and go merrily over the fiscal cliff together. After all, how bad can it be? Wasn’t it created by the wizards of smart in Congress and signed into law by our enlightened President? Pass the kool-aid please.

“shaken to my core”... interesting that you put it that way.
There is a great shaking JUST STARTING.

Hebrews 12:
26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”[e] 27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”[f]

That’s what I thought. I always thought I was ready for it....I was wrong.

I truly believed we could turn things around, at least for a while. I feel crushed and I can’t seem to shake off this dreadful demon that haunts me.

I must start reading my Bible again and give my troubles to Him.

Is it just me, or do people seem to be more “evil” now a days? I’m talking about people you deal with on a day to day basis. Perhaps I am just now looking for ANY bad in people, more than I usually do.

My perception upon people seems more heightened now, if that makes any sense.

My awareness got “cranked up” right after the 2008 elections. There’s some really hard times coming.

I started prepping and praying for guidance, and I know I’ve received numerous helps along the way since then.

Too many “coincidences” to relate, but He’s getting His people prepared to live and thrive through it. It makes me think that we’ll have to “stick around” through it instead of getting yanked out early.

How many Americans had to work their whole lives to pay in income tax the $4 million dollars for the Obamas to go on vacation?

Neal Boortz said something years ago that helped put government's out of control spending. He was referring to Congress, but the principle is the same. If someone introduced some pork spending for a study of the mating habits of the green-thoraxed screeching beetle or, in this case, a tax-payer supplemented vacation, one would have to take the cost of the item, $4 million, divide it by $10,000, the average household tax bill, and stand up in front of that many families, in this case 400, and tell them why the government needs to confiscate their money for the item. Why it is more important for Obama to go on vacation for two weeks than for the family, who earned the money, to pay off their credit cards or put braces on their kids or buy a car to replace the one breaking down.

To take it a step further to answer your question, if you figure 40 years of earning, Obama is forcing 10 families to work their entire lives to pay the taxes necessary to send these worthless people on a vacation for a couple of weeks.

I can't decide if I am more reminded of Marie Antoinette or Yertle the Turtle.
