Fox News Puts Karl Rove on the Bench
New York Magazine ^ | 12/4/2012 | Gabriel Sherman

Posted on 12/04/2012 3:41:00 PM PST by nickcarraway

The post-election soul searching going on inside the Republican Party is taking place inside Fox News as well. Fox News chief Roger Ailes, a canny marketer and protector of his network’s brand, has been taking steps since November to reposition Fox in the post-election media environment, freshening story lines — and in some cases, changing the characters. According to multiple Fox sources, Ailes has issued a new directive to his staff: He wants the faces associated with the election off the air — for now. For Karl Rove and Dick Morris — a pair of pundits perhaps most closely aligned with Fox’s anti-Obama campaign — Ailes’s orders mean new rules. Ailes’s deputy, Fox News programming chief Bill Shine, has sent out orders mandating that producers must get permission before booking Rove or Morris. Both pundits made several appearances in the days after the election, but their visibility on the network has dropped markedly. Inside Fox News, Morris’s Romney boosterism and reality-denying predictions became a punch line. At a rehearsal on the Saturday before the election, according to a source, anchor Megyn Kelly chuckled when she relayed to colleagues what someone had told her: “I really like Dick Morris. He’s always wrong but he makes me feel good.”

A Fox spokesperson confirmed the new booking rules for Rove and Morris, and explained that Shine’s message was “the election’s over.”

Multiple sources say that Ailes was angry at Rove’s election-night tantrum when he disputed the network’s call for Obama. While the moment made for riveting television — it was Ailes’s decision to have Kelly confront the statisticians on air — in the end, it provided another data point for Fox’s critics. A spokesperson for Ailes denied any rift between Ailes and Rove, and said the two plan to meet this week.

Hannity's the only person to still refer to Rove as The Architect.

I never got that nickname. Architect of what - the 2000 squeaker?

At least Morris apologized for being wrong, and explained where he was off: he didn’t think the Obama turnout would mirror 08, but it did.

Neither has contributed, or have been worth watching for years. Of two Morris is more interesting. If he did indeed guide Clinton, the insight is valuable. Clinton’s era makes Bush 2 look dismal.

He was able to prevent a single conservative win with the White House, the Senate, and the House all in GOP hands. He also helped sell (the tenth amendment is dead)Roberts to conservatives.

I can’t stand the way that Rove pronounces “Warshington” and “Calarada.” Besides that, Rove gave bad advice to Bush. I read that it was Rove who advised Bush not to respond to the “Bush lied about WMDs.” Bush should have pushed back and pointed out that most of the senators (including Hillary Clinton) looked at the same intelligence that Bush looked at and voted to invade Iraq. To this day Bush’s failure to respond has hurt the Republican party. Get lost Rove!

Rove is the main RINO who was responsible for Romney winning the GOP nomination. He has backed pro-abortion republicans in the past and will continue to do. When I hear Hannity call him “The Architect” I feel like throwing up.

I brought that relief to my own viewing some time ago by refusing to watch almost no Fox News programs. Sick of the turn they have taken.

At this very moment, the husband is watching Brett’s “Special Report” on DVR in the next room. I used to watch it with him. No more. I do still watch Greta on DVR, but usually wind up FFwding a lot of it, especially since she loves to have McCain and Lindsey Graham on.

Same here! Fox News was the only network news I watched... until Nov 7. I have not watched Fox or any other since then. I don’t intend to watch until they call obama what he is. To talk about him like he’s a normal democrat, I can’t take. This is a person who is not the normal United States of America President. If they don’t see the seriousness of what is happening, then they are way too out of touch with reality to be a news organization.

This piece is just leftist MSM (New York Magazine) gloating over the alleged election results and the consequent bickering among some of the most visible conservative media elites.

If Republicans as a party really want to find out why they lost when they fully expected to win, they would investigate 'Rat fraud and cheating in targeted locales in the swing states, rather than treating that subject as a big taboo!!! Remember that no pollster or pundit in the world can account for fraud and cheating when forecasting elections.

I know a lot of people on this forum do not like Karl Rove. However, I do not like how he was treated by FOX on election night. I know he is a GOPe, but I do know that he knows his job and elections enough to know something was seriously wrong. I got the impression that FOX was part of the HOAX the way they treated him like a jester that night.

All of the guys with a good gig, are afraid of being labeled goofs, if they start to take vote fraud as a serious factor.

These same people won’t admit that Obama is destroying this country on purpose, and keep trying guess what he might do next, “to save his legacy”....
They just can’t imagine he’d let the economy, or the military flounder.....

And when we’re in ruins, and China has taken Taiwan, and Syria has slaughtered it’s people with chemical weapons, BO will laugh and blame the Republicans, who have NO idea how to fight.
