Bob Costas said he made a mistake, violating his own rule of not trying to compress a nuanced topic into small bit of air time, with his controversial halftime commentary Sunday night on the murder-suicide committed by Jovan Belcher of the Kansas City Chiefs the day before.
My mistake is I left it open for too much miscommunication, Costas said in a lengthy interview on The Dan Patrick Show. The 90-second weekly spot, he said, doesnt offer enough time in which to adequately discuss the issue of the football culture, the gun culture, domestic violence.

The PR reports must’ve arrived
It’s always a “mistake” with these guys, after their broadcast goes around the world eight friggin’ times.
If he had 90 minutes or 90 hours - I still think we would know where he stood on the 2nd Amendment....nuance my left foot.....
Wear something pink next time Bobby. Wear something pink. Then those watching at home will understand where you’re coming from.
And I’ve got an idea: let’s make Costas live-broadcast Olympic shooting events.
if I ever meet Costas, I’ll need bail money
Bob Costas reminds me more and more of Bryant Gumbel. Used to be a good sports announcer before he decided to be “relevant.”
Miscommunication my ass ...
Dumbass tried to capitalize on the emotion of the moment without thinking about the commentary that he was quoting ...
If he had, he woulda seen that the opinion that he was quoting was extremely flawed - and it is the actions of people that kill people, not the 2nd Amendment ...
No problem, Bob. Now I know your true colors.
Yeah, it was a mistake. Kind of like your career.
"It was a mistake to say this stuff in a sports broadcast when I could have pushed the same B.S. for several minutes, and to a more receptive audience, by going on 'The View' or 'The Daily Show'."
It was your typical marxist haranguing monologue. They don’t want dialogue with different viewpoints or to debate the issues.
The whole disgraceful episode gave me flashbacks to the kenyans last press conference. I was misunderstood is not good enough, Bob.
Maybe he got Zumbo’d.
Turns out sports guys are gun guys.
Costas must have read today’s negative stories regarding Belcher. Here’s a basic journalistic lesson, Bob: get all the facts before you go shooting off your mouth.

Hey, dipshit, how about just taking 5seconds to condemn murder instead of the 90 second sniveling attack of the 2nd Amendment?
When is Peter King going to apologize? And will his apology be a childish facsimile of a haiku?
Costas should be fired....out of a cannon....into the ocean....wrapped in chains.....
