Bob Costas knows his sports.
I’ll say that for him.
Over the last 32 years, he has parlayed that knowledge and his broadcasting abilities into an estimated net worth of some $32 million.
He has won nearly 20 Emmys and four National Sportscaster of the Year awards.
But he is clearly out of his depths and out of place when it comes to opining on other matters – such as gun control.
Costas attempted to use his platform during a ”Sunday Night Football” halftime report to blame a gun for the murder of a woman – a gun actually fired by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, who also used it to kill himself.
He began by praising a column by Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock. Then Costas added: ”In the coming days, Jovan Belcher’s actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? ‘But here,’ wrote Jason Whitlock, ‘is what I believe. If Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.’”
Belcher shot and killed Perkins, the mother of his 3-month-old daughter, on Saturday morning, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in the parking lot of the team’s practice facility.
Does Costas really believe that Belcher couldn’t have found another way to kill Perkins? Firing a gun at a woman who has given birth to your child requires some determination. Belcher didn’t lack the brute strength to strangle her or to stab her to death. So Costas clearly doesn’t know Perkins would be alive if Belcher didn’t own a gun.
But, more to the point, there would be far more innocent blood spilled if responsible Americans were someday denied the unalienable, constitutionally protected right to bear arms. Guns save the lives of innocent victims of crime

-They learned their economics from cadging free food and drinks from Conference and League Media Days, the pressbox, lockerrooms, etc. They think everything should be as free for everybody else as it is for them.
-In the end, most sports journalists realize that "sports" itself is an empty and worthless endeavor. So, they try to justify their existence by "branching" out into non-sports news, politics, et. al. just like Hollywood Regressives. The easiest way to do this is to become a Regressive Leftist and so you can get invited to the really cool New York and Washington parties. Don't forget that Bryant Gumbel and Keith Olbermann both started out as sportscasters.

Bob Costa’s ole buddy , sidekick sports announcer O.J.Simpson didn’t need a gun for his double murder . If a person wants to kill they will ,,, the weapon is immaterial ,, it’s a murder none the less . People kill not frying pans , crowbars , guns or knives ,, people are responsible for murders committed not their weapons .
I love to watch sports but when these announcers do this kind of stuff, it ruins everything. Liberalism ruins everything it touches, why can’t people see that. Look at all of the cities after nutty liberalism policies are forced into mainstream America. Destroying our schools, our work place businesses, now even sports. They even now are destroying our police departments by making them run most of the police departments politically correct along with replacing the more experienced cops with this new kind of officer. Obama and the beer summit (what a joke!) Rants on sports games! (Democrats!)
All men should have their hands cut off. They could use them to strangle their wives, girlfriends, male friends or dogs.
Wish someone in the Sports Media would mention that if gays would stop using their “guns” inappropriately, a lot of them would still be alive and those alive would live longer.
I don’t agree with your general statement about sportscasters in general, but I think you’re right on target when you’re dealing with sportscasters who never played the sports they cover. If people like Keith Olberman and Bob Costas had been athletes in their younger days, they wouldn’t have ended up being such @ssholes now.

Let's see: take a teen bully thug, pump him full of steroids, encourage his aggression, knock his brains silly, give him huge amounts of cash and turn a blind eye to his drink and drug abuse. Nah, nothing there, GUNZ BAD OK.
