TORONTO --(Ammoland.com)- Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (Teachers’) has announced an agreement for the acquisition of Plano Molding Company, Inc. (Plano), the premier supplier of outdoor sports storage systems.

Based in Plano, Illinois, and founded in 1932, Plano is recognized as the leading brand in fishing and fall sports markets where it enjoys leading market shares in tackle boxes, bait storage, gun cases, archery cases, and ice fishing products. It also produces cases for cosmetics, tools and crafts, as well as storage containers and shelving for home and office.

Teachers’ is making the acquisition through its private equity investment division, Teachers’ Private Capital (TPC). Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.

“Plano has exceptionally strong brands and product categories supported by attractive market characteristics. It also benefits from its long-standing relationships with top North American retailers,” said Jane Rowe, Senior Vice-President of TPC. “Plano’s proven management team has a record of solid organic growth and has strongly positioned the company to benefit from acquisition opportunities. We look forward to supporting their success.”

“The Plano management team and I are extremely excited to be partnering with Teachers’,” stated Tom Hurt, the Company’s President and CEO. “Together we look forward to growing Plano’s heritage brands to their full potential and continuing our dedication to exceeding our customer expectations in product innovation, market leadership and world-class customer service. An exciting new journey has just begun for Plano, our valued associates and the many market leading brands under our umbrella. The Teachers’ partnership in Plano promises to yield more exciting opportunities than ever before.”

TPC activities include leading deals on a sole or partnered basis, investing in private equity funds in markets and sectors that it cannot efficiently access directly and co-investing with other like-minded private equity funds. TPC manages a global portfolio valued at approximately $12 billion.

About Teachers’ With $117.1 billion in assets as of December 31, 2011, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is the largest single-profession pension plan in Canada. As a canadian teacher's pension plan, perhaps they will not be so concerned with political correctness. I would worry if it were an U.S. teacher's pension plan.

They've been sitting on a huge wad of cash from the sale of their stake in the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Canada Ping!

Having fished in Ontario many times back when the economy was better, I am somewhat suspect of this transaction.

Will non-Plano boxes be confiscated at the border? Could have carcinogenic non-compliant chemicals...

What nefarious role does Canadian Tire play behind the scenes?

What under-the-table play is being made for Coleman? Rubbermaid?

They’re getting even for 1812, I suspect, eh?

The Ontario Teachers also own the Toronto Maple Leafs.

If their record of success in hockey is any measure, customers and employees at Plano Molding better beware!

Well, considering y’all invaded us, burned our Capital city and tried to take us over, at which point we chased y’all down past Washington, burned YOUR White House in return, got bored and came home, I suppose you’re right.

Kinda funny that the single battle that is written and sung about (the Battle of New Orleans) y’all won cold and hard happened AFTER the Treaty of Ghent matters not, right?

Yeah, it MUST be revenge.

Yes, we lost the war but proved to the British empire that we were not a “flash in the pan” and won the treaty.

It was hardly Canada that burned down the White House, it was the British Empire.

For that matter, you appear to think that Americans believed that burning out the politicians was somehow a bad thing. :P

it was the British Empire.

and the Indian nations,

and the Loyalists,

and the Quebecois,

and the REST of the polyglot that made up Canada at the time.

I don’t denigrate the history or potential of the USA. Your nation has stood as a major bastion against tyranny for a VERY long time. Mine has only a century and a bit to claim in that vein. That we two had to fight a time or two only strengthens our bond, IMHO.

G_d Bless us all

". . . we chased y’all down past Washington, burned YOUR White House in return, ...

You would probably acquire a lot of volunteers along the way. As for your getting bored and going home, why be in a hurry to leave? You can get additional volunteers in VA, burn Raleigh NC, and pick up still more happy volunteers all the way to Myrtle Beach.

Why ever leave, take Myrtle Beach as compensation for you long march, make it a colony or something. It would be a lot better off with Mounties rather than their current police farce.

You’re right! I only heard about the Battle of new orleans in grade school- they left out the Northern incursions.

Nowdays they don’t teach anything.

You guys knew if you could hold that Canadian border it would pay great dividends, and it did.
