10 Illinois Republican Senators join Senate Democrats, passing 41-14 Illegal Alien Drivers Licenses
Republican News Watch ^ | December 4, 2012 | DOUG IBENDAHL

A bill to allow undocumented immigrants to obtain an Illinois driver’s license passed the Illinois Senate today by a vote of 41 to 14. One Democrat voted “present.” The bill is SB957.

The 10 Republicans who joined the Democrats in rewarding non-citizens who are already breaking our laws, were: Bill Brady (Sponsor), Kirk Dillard, Tom Johnson, John Millner (Sponsor), Matt Murphy, Carole Pankau, Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno (Sponsor), Sue Rezin, Ron Sandack (Sponsor), and Suzi Schmidt.

Two Republicans, Pamela Althoff and Dale Righter, took the ultimate lily-livered approach and just didn’t vote on the bill. That’s as bad as a “yes” vote.

Next time these 12 Republicans are up for reelection maybe they’ll be able to find some undocumented immigrants to volunteer on their campaigns. Hard to imagine any law abiding Republican would ever lift a finger for one of these goofs.

These lawmakers should also maybe call up former Democrat State Representative Derrick Smith and apologize. Smith was expelled from the Illinois House earlier this year after being indicted on federal charges. He has not yet gone to trial.

Sorry Derrick, if only you had originated from a different country and flagrantly violated a different federal law. Maybe instead of being disgraced, maybe your colleagues would hand you a reward too.

The bill now heads to the House where it has the strong support of House Minority “Leader” Tom Cross.

It is truly the path of least resistance, I fear, and while our Founders would be disappointed in us for doing so, the end result requires more fighting and bloodshed under which we would be more likely to triumph than going about it through the corrupt political process.

I worked hard for Matt's first primary bid some years back and worked two precincts in a neighboring township for him in his first general. I finally (and luckily, I thought) got mapped into his district this year.

HE IS DEAD TO ME KNOW.

What these RINOcrats don't realize is that even if they kiss every Hispanic A$$ in the state, all they're going to get for it is the taste of used refried beans in their mouths.

In politics, money talks.

Apparently, Republican Party donor money wants to pay lower wages.

It's Illinois (Chicago). A boil on the butt of America.

People are ‘selling out’ all over the place for ‘political’ gain.

Yes, they are lovers of themselves and not America. "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, ......" 2 Tim 3

They probably found reasons not to vote for Romney too.

Ditto. I also worked hard to help Murphy win the primary over RINO Palentine Mayor Rita Mullins during his first State Senate campaign. He's been dead to for a while now, the last straw for me was when he teamed up with Andy McKombine to be McKombine's running mate in 2010. The ironic thing is this guy started off with the most conservative record in the State Senate, and very quickly became a combine butt-kisser. I knew it was bad news when he immediately endorsed Mark Kirk in the U.S. Senate primary, given that Kirk was considerably to the left of the "unacceptable" Rita Mullins.

Lots of disappointments here, I'm sorry to see Bill Brady, Carole Pankau, John Millner, and Suzi Schmidt lend their support to this bill, though others like Dillard and Radogno don't surprise me. The one that bothers me the most is Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran was pimping for this bill, I had always figured him to be a solid conservative but it seems he still has some of the old tendencies he had when he was in the RAT party. I'm unlikely to ever back him for higher office now.

The funny thing is Ray LaThug's son Darin has been "with us" on all these bills, but I still don't trust the spawn of LaThug one bit. I think he's just "playing conservative" like daddy until Aaron Schock runs for higher office and he can get Schock's house seat (daddy's old job).

This state sucks. :-(

I fail to see how, if you are in someone else’s country illegally, you can legally apply for a drivers licence and drive in said country.
By this definition, I can slip in North Korea, the democrat’s poster child, and apply for a driver’s licence, once i am there?
This ought to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. TIME to do something.

The Land of Lincoln Shrugged?

You can only save those who wish to be saved.

Prepare for civil war.. it’s inevitable. Our ‘leaders’ seek it to further consolidate their power.

This is unamerican!!!!

YOu cannot get a drivers license anywhere in the world unless you have, at a minimum, a work or travel visa.

They giving “a privilege” to Non-Americans.

Seems to me it is now “A Right” and one can certainly make that case if their license were to be revoked.

I’d make it. Then again, I’d drive without it.

I pay more in taxes each year than many people earn, so those roads are just as much mine as anyone else...

Which Republican should oppose Sen. Murphy, in the 2014 primary? I hope that Kevin O’Connell will run.
