Conservatives bite back at House GOP leadership over purge (Boehner channels Stalin)
Wash Post ^ | 12/5/12 | Rachel Weiner

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) took a public shot at House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) Tuesday night, in the wake of a shake-up that knocked a small group of conservatives off prominent committees.

Justin Amash ✔ @repjustinamash Still waiting for call from GOP leadership. Are they too embarrassed to explain they booted me for working to reduce debt? 4 Dec 12 ReplyRetweetFavorite

Amash, a libertarian-leaning conservative, was taken off the House Budget Committee. Tea party-backed Rep. Tim Huelskamp (Kan.) was taken off Budget and Agriculture. Reps. Walter Jones (N.C.), a rare moderate, and David Schweikert (Ariz.) lost their spots on the Financial Services Committee. Amash, Huelskamp and Schweikert were all first elected in the 2010 Republican wave.

I'm holding out judgment on that part and that is not what I am addressing now. Boehner is taking heat over something that he may have been perfectly justified in doing but I see such a mob mentality here now on FR no one is willing to give the benefit of the doubt and not even willing to wait for facts.

To equate Boehner with Stalin is unconscionable and Boehner is owed a great big apology.

I want the exact same outcome to these negotiations as you but I have no idea how to get what we want and I don't even know if it's possible.

I am of the belief that Obama and the RATs smell blood in the water and they do not care one twit about their country. They only care about their own power and they see a way to destroy the Republican party. They know they have the press on their side. As long as Boehner and Co. understand that Obama does not want a solution, they'll have to figure out how to get the best deal possible.

I have no idea what he should do. I know I would never give Obama everything he wants because there will be no end to it. It looks to me like Boehner is the only one putting forth a possible solution, just to be shot down each time. I doubt the public will see that though because the press still tells it like the Republicans are being obstructionists to Obama's solutions. (Lies, of course).

If Boehner stands up to Obama(no tax increases)
or allows sequestration so that Obama owns the tax hike, I will personally apologize to you.

I did not support Romney at the caucus but I certainly supported him when it came time to make the decision between Romney and Obama and I’m darned proud of the fact I did that. Obama is a terrible, terrible disaster for our country.

I don't want an apology and don't even expect one. All I want is to have all of us understand the dire situation we are in right now. We must pray for the best possible outcome. I fear Obama and RATS for more than I fear anyone on my side.

I want a way to beat Obama and the RATS back into the stone age but Republicans only have the House. The RATS have the Senate, the presidency and the MSM. Our side is so fractured, we cannot even all agree on who is the greater enemy. We are in disarray and I see no hope of it improving.

“.......This is going TOO far—you’ve all jumped the shark. I know of ONE Freeper who bothered to check the voting record of these flakes that Boehner removed......You all want each others’ approval and to hell with the truth.”
********************************************************************
So grandma, what exactly did YOUR investigation of the voting records of these conservative “flakes” (as you so gently defined them) reveal? Did your investigation reveal them to be commies? ...or Nazis? ...or Pediphiles? or part of some conspiracy to destroy the Republican party?

I’m not seeking anyone’s approval—I want the truth; and you seem to think you know the truth. Please share with us “the truth”.

Conservatives need to stop fighting over the election and over things we can't change. There needs to be a major push against the status quo and a clear message. The TEA party had their attention with the DC rallies but after 2010 and the TEA party's backdown, the beltway elite stopped paying attention again. It's seriously time to send them packing and start over with fresh conservatives. These politicians are not representatives of the people, they instead fancy themselves our rulers. That needs to change and they need to go!

Agreed.

So now what?

The GOP has decided that the conservatives, TEA party, and moderate folks need to be excommunicated.

They have chosen to end as a party. What do we do know?

Romney and the GOP-E leadership, including Boehner, were a terrible, terrible disaster for our country.

Because they aren't conservative.

“Stalin terrorized and killed millions!!”

What do you think the effect of Obamacare will be? What is different besides the method?

Taxpayer-funded abortion, death panels, ill and elderly shoved out the hospital door rather than receive life-saving treatment...

In time, Obamacare will also terrorize and kill millions.

Where is the effective opposition from the Republicans? It’s gotten to the point that those who don’t stand against Obama are as guilty as those who stand with him.

We need a conservative party in the US. Any one who thinks the GOP is it needs their head examined. I’m tired of lip service every two years from these bozos only to be stabbed in the back the day after the election.

Since you are so upset over this maybe you could enlighten all us rabid lemmings about the voting records of the purged. From what I’ve read it came down to just a few votes on fiscal issues where the purged actually took a conservative stand. One of them had voted 95% with the speaker and that wasn’t enough.

Not surprising. Anyone paying attention can accurately predict what's going to happen in the coming weeks - no crystal ball or sorcery necessary. Question is, what is the appropriate response....

thanks for telling fellow freepers to get to know the facts first before jumping on the bandwagon and comparing someone o Joseph Stalin. has john Boehner in comparison to Joseph Stalin
1. made a treaty with Adolf Hitler and later be attacked by Hitler
2. lead a communist nation in a war
3. maintain POWs in confinement well after the war was over as late as 1951.
4. kill millions of citizens in regards to political differences.

Boehner may or may not have compromised. But to say he is like Stalin is way way over the top.

i am a conservative, but I do think for myself.

“I’m holding out judgment...”

Just a little “heads up”...I am counting 40 Repub defectors to the Dems reference the “fiscal cliff”. Obozo leaves the Dec. 17, for a 21 day vacation. We will have our answers very soon.

Boehner was making a power grab and looking for complete obedience to what is in the works.

I am glad this is happening. We are now going to see what our Congress is really composed of...no more deception. We have had some bitter pills to swallow lately. But, it is time for the truth.

Don’t be alarmed at people’s reactions. These are pretty desperate times and everyone is just trying to cope.

Best Wishes,
BoL

“...Boehner is a spineless RINO coward...”

I think he’s either a Rat plant or they got something really dirty on him. Regardless, he needs to go.
