Time to elect a new Speaker ..??????????
Am I the only person who thinks we should just let the Bush tax cuts expire, let taxes go up on everyone, reduce spending in defense and entitlements... in short let Obama have what he wants...under the assessment that there is an impasse, and let the democrats, but mostly Obama have this clearly his budget.
In short, walk away. If the man is not going to negotiate, then forget it. Pass what you need to pass, and the Senate accepts it or it doesn’t and move the hell on.
Either way, this economy and our international situation is going to get worse. So why hitch the republicans to this?
This is a failed presidency that will fail even more in the coming months. I think the democrats orchestrated the economy collapse under Bush, let’s do the same to Obama.
The GOP has decided that the conservatives, TEA party, and moderate folks need to be excommunicated.
They have chosen to end as a party. What do we do know?
We need a conservative party in the US. Any one who thinks the GOP is it needs their head examined. I’m tired of lip service every two years from these bozos only to be stabbed in the back the day after the election.

I think he’s either a Rat plant or they got something really dirty on him. Regardless, he needs to go.
Maybe there’s a bright side to all this. Since the great majority of House Republicans are strongly against tax increases, many having signed a pledge to that effect, if John Boehner were to agree to raise taxes on the rich now, he would not be able to continue as House Speaker. He might not even be able to enter the Republican section of the House in the future without being protected by a full suit of body armor.
So there are two possibilities: If John Boehner is an honorable, principled Republican, he will not agree to a tax increase on the rich; and, if he’s a slimy self-serving political hack, he won’t agree to a tax increase on the rich either, since he won’t want to lose his House Speakership.
If John Boehner caves, it will be a surprise, but if the House Republicans also cave and endorse John Boehner’s betrayal, it will be such a shock that there will no alternative for Conservatives except to start their own party. Which could be another bright side to all this.
American Majority Action is trying to do just that.
AMA’s Ned Ryun said “Boehner has never won a negation battle with the White House or Senate—and he’s been nothing short of an embarrassing spokesman for the Conservative Movement. It’s time for him to go.”
Boehner needs 218 votes to become Speaker again. Seeing as there are 233 House Republicans next Congress, and assuming no Democrats would vote for Boehner as Speaker, if 16 conservative Republicans abstain from voting, Boehner wouldn’t regain the Speakership.
Dims would probably vote for Bonehead, just to keep him as Speaker. At least someone's trying to kick him out.
