Californians buying guns at record rate
ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER ^ | 12/5/2012 | CLAUDIA KOERNER

Posted on 12/05/2012 2:04:15 PM PST by dragnet2

Californians are buying more guns than ever.

As of November, the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System had run 981,798 background checks related to guns in California, beating out totals for previous years before 2012 is even over. The numbers jumped about 8 percent from last year, part of a steady increase since 2008.

This year, however, the system broke records, with 154,873 calls on Nov. 23, up about 20 percent from Black Friday last year. With the high volume of calls, officials shut down call centers briefly to allow the system to catch up, Fischer said.

Among California gun buyers, the spike was even more pronounced.

Across all levels of government, officials have made moves to regulate gun ownership, he added. While the most restrictive regulations would likely be overturned by courts under the Second Amendment's right to bear arms, Eastman said a risk of control was enough to encourage prospective gun owners to buy while they can.

Outside of political strife, economic uncertainty has also inspired people to look for more protection, he said. Violent crimes have steadily declined in recent years, according to FBI statistics, but Eastman said concerns remain that those in desperate financial straits could be a threat to safety. With talk among politicians about cutting social benefits, financial hardships could become worse for many, creating an even more volatile situation, he said. Concerns are also high about preparedness in case of disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy.

"It's like a perfect storm," he said.

Charlie Blek, president of the Orange County chapter of advocacy group the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence "The National Rifle Association has done a wonderful of demonizing President Obama," he said.

Yet Californians vote for Democrats who then vote to restrict their gun rights. Sure is a conundrum to me.

LOL, you can find any number of dullards who hang out here that will swear up and down that liberals hate guns. Liberals certainly don’t hate guns they hate it that you can own one. Thats the rub. In fact when it comes to pulling the trigger they’ll likely wind up better than those here. Their lack of moral conviction unburdens them. Liberals are murders at heart, unafraid to murder those who don’t fall in lock step happy to bear the chains.

Frankly CA is a cesspool of stupid. Those who remain there will be troubled to bear the consequences.

“...To all you so called friends...”

You have more friends that you know...Friend.

You’re not alone.

California gunnies are my brothers are sure as Idaho, Ohio, New Jersey Slave-State, and Alabama gunnies are.

One Team, One Fight - the left hates us ALL equally.

And it’s mutual, believe me.

“Liberals certainly don’t hate guns, they hate it that you can own one.”

You nailed it! Beckel always goes ballistic about citizens owning handguns. That’s because Fatso thinks of gun rights people as the class enemy that must be disarmed & persecuted to `build a better world’.

“Guns for me but not for thee”

“...Yet Californians vote for Democrats...”

Not all, brother. Illegals, the stupid, the dependent, and the unintelligent do for sure.

There’s a lot of them.

There’s also a lot of good, decent, people who can’t financially move, who can’t afford to do anything except stay where they are - for now.

Can’t paint everyone. We have allies EVERYWHERE, all over the country, and we need every single one of them.

Consider them “Behind Enemy Lines” and they need help - just like gunny brothers in New Jersey, New York, etc.

One Team, One Fight.

Nope but I see you’re indulging. So, lets see if you can make a coherent argument. What was it I said that was correctly?

Wow, never expected to hear a positive comment from the Brady guys, wonder what went on over there? They are off the Obama Bus now?

Hey, 556x45:

You ever try the Russian 5.45mmx39mm round? It’s still pretty cheap, especially compared to our 5.56. Supposed to be higher velocity too.

California added it to their “Can’t Sell in This State” list... any ideas why?

Because they can.

Absence of logic and consistency are requirements for being a modern day Democrat.

Thanks. So true. Now, if posters like Kozak and 556x45
would bother to understand the point of my post like you
maybe we could get somewhere.

I am staying to fight the fight. If you would just show up
to take back the lib whack jobs Tenn. has sent to
California over the years that would be a good start
for us. No dice? Thought so.

People in California seem to do things by extremes. Why don’t we just put a forty foot high fence around the whole state and call it an insane asylum? (yes I am politically incorrect, and proud of it!)

“...Now, if posters like Kozak and 556x45...”

Ah, I believe they do. I can’t speak for anyone else, but generally, I think we’re ALL just so f***ing tired of the left pushing and us not pushing back. This is just another example. We hear it, read it, see it, and it’s frustrating and angering and nauseating all at once. People react.

California has many problems, and many are self-imposed by the libs running things. We all know it. And believe me, I look at it and say - “Hey...that’s part of MY Country, and my people are getting effed over.”

But realistically, It may just take a mass exodus of the productive folks, going to a better place like Arizona, or Idaho, or Nevada - to let it cave in on itself.

We’re ALL in the same boat - ALL gunnies, all Patriots, all Citizens - whether we live in so-called “red” states or not. I have many friends - all retired, former military folk, that live in Jersey. They know what it’s become. Many are moving across the river to PA just so they can be able to purchase firearms normally like most of the country can.

And now we just had an election in PA, and a anti-gun liberal freakette just elected AG. In a state with a Republican House, Senate, and Governor.

Nowhere is safe, and nowhere can we relax or let up for even an instant.

But moving away may be what it takes for you and other folks who still believe in their rights; I know it’s not financially feasible for a lot of people - lord knows, I couldn’t do it if I lived in some f***ed-up cesspole like New Jersey - but it IS something to consider.

Look at this way - the MORE of US in a state/county/township, etc., the better it will be. It’s what Libs did - they infiltrated into areas, got into the political, legal, judicial areas, and now control them.

We should be doing the same. Aggressively, and with determination.

Free men fight for what they love and believe in - or they’re not free. And battle doesn’t always mean lead flying.
