Conservative group launches campaign to ‘depose’ Boehner from speakership

The backlash against Speaker of the House John Boehner’s removal of several conservative members of Congress from committees continued Wednesday, with one conservative group calling for Republicans to “depose” Boehner from his speakership.
American Majority Action (AMA) is launching a #FireBoehner campaign. If 16 members of the Republican Party abstain from voting for Boehner as speaker in January, he will be one vote shy of the 218 necessary to confirm his speakership.
“Speaker Boehner has been an abysmal failure as speaker, and his latest purge is the nail in the coffin for conservatives,” said Ned Ryun, president and CEO of AMA. “Boehner has never won a negation battle with the White House or Senate — and he’s been nothing short of an embarrassing spokesman for the conservative movement. It’s time for him to go.”
The recent anger stems in large part from the removal of Reps. David Schweikert, Justin Amash and Tim Huelskamp from their spots on committees. Boehner has said it was an issue of loyalty, Buzzfeed reported, but conservatives have labeled it a purge of more conservative and libertarian elements of the party.

“We only need 16 votes to get conservatives on the path to actually reducing our $16 trillion debt,” AMA Virginia Director Matt Robbins said. “If conservatives want to tackle our biggest challenges, we need competent leaders — and frankly — new leaders.”
Ron Meyer, press secretary for AMA, said that the group likes Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the outgoing chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, to replace Boehner, though he noted that “there aren’t enough votes to elect someone new — yet.”

But removing him from the speakership, Myer said, is “doable for sure.”
A different speaker isn’t going to make one damn bit of difference.

Sounds good to me. A good shake up might be what is needed to get Boehner’s attention. It it were to be batted around between now and the swearing in of the new Congress in January, it just might make a huge difference in his attitude now toward those who truly give a darn and care about achieving what they were sent there to do!!
Boner should’ve been gone after the first tear fell. If he wants to cry he can do it in a support group for wussies.
If Boner is removed watch all the rinos caucus with the democrats. Hell, they may even switch parties.

I just sent this to my representative Frank Lucas:
Mr. Lucas, I think this is the first time i’ve taken the time to write my elected representative in congress. However, I am what you might call a political junkie. I stay informed on issues through the internet... NOT cable news (which i cancelled over 2 years ago with no regrets) I very much like your voting record that I’ve seen so far through this website. I should spend more time here instead of on the political news forums. Shame on me for not being more involved. Obviously the election results and current events in congress has my blood boiling, and you are my representative... so here goes: I WANT SPEAKER BOEHNER GONE!!!! His attack on fiscal conservatives by removing them from key positions to further enable his cowardly cave-ins to the democrats is inexcusable. I’m Sick and TIRED of seeing him as the majority leader. He is doing the republican party NO FAVORS! We need fighters in Congress. I am dead serious about leaving the republican party for the conservative party if the GOP doesn’t start growing a pair. If Boehner remains, I’m gone! Thank you

Second, Boehner let Obama into a debate that should have stayed between the House and the Senate, giving Obama a national stage for him to "look Presidential" at a time when he was looking weak and on the outside.
Third, as Boehner was beginning to go wobbly on his resolve to play hardball with Reid and Obama, the Republican base was forcing Boehner to take a hard line. Then, out of nowhere, Mitch McConnell offers up his Senate compromise of giving Obama the power to raise the debt limit subject to Congress voting to veto it. McConnell pulled the rug out from under Boehner for what gain, to appear bipartisan? to appear statesmanlike?
All McConnell did was show how the Republican party does not coordinate tactics, or message, or anything else in a strategic way. Republicans act as if they are all independent players acting on their own motives.
As long as we allow "leadership" like that to continue, Republicans will never win again. Boehner is taking a harder stance with his fellow Republicans than he takes with Democrats. Didn't we just see that with the Primary Romney vs. the General Romney?

I suspect that Paul Ryan is situated to become the next speaker, assuming that Boehner is deposed. He seems to be the economic “idea man” for the party, and was good enough to be chosen as a VP candidate. Plus, Boehner has not treated him as a threat, at least that we know of.
Since by his latest action, Boehner created 4 of the 16 votes to depose him, the other 12 (or more) are where the head counts are going to be made. No doubt there will be some serious “horse trading” going on.
But there is not only very little that the leadership can offer, but they made some enemies in the last election, and this would be serious payback.
