NewsBeast Layoffs Begin (Liberal Newsweek print staffers getting the boot right now!)
Adweek ^ | 12/6/12 | Lucia Moses

It's got to be a sad day at the Newsweek Daily Beast Co., where the layoffs that have been in the offing since the company announced it would fold Newsweek have begun.

The staff got an email at lunchtime today from editor in chief Tina Brown and CEO Baba Shetty notifying them that editorial staffers would learn if their positions are being eliminated.

The company announced in October that it would take Newsweek digital-only in 2013—it's expected to lose $40 million this year—ending a costly experiment to combine the weekly newsmagazine and online upstart into a profitable entity.

I’m sure the knowledge of all they’ve done to tart up liberalism over the years will console them as they go on government relief.

Tina Brown should lead by example.

How many staffer’s salaries does her paycheck equal?

Now they’re free to worship Obama all day. Just charge up the EBT and they’ll all be happy.

Rotten no good traitorous filth. I hope each and every one of them is reduced to eating tree bark like the subjects of the original dear leader.

Fairness would have her change places with the janitorial staff and live in a 1-bedroom near JFK Airport with roaches.

The M’fers hated capitalism and it just laid them off. Now they can hate it even more!

The M’fers hated capitalism and it just laid them off.

It wasn't capitalism that laid them off.

It was their socialism that laid them off.

Well, the writing was on the wall...they chose not to read it. Next time they should try sticking to the truth and “reporting” the news and not making the news. I hope they enjoy their unemployment — Obama will enjoy his Christmas — On the up side now have 99 weeks unemployment, thanks to their reporting and support of “the one.”

Is this a good time to remind them that Pelosi says Unemployment benefits are a terrific stimulus to the economy?

Prior to this she made the same claim about food stamps, so if those newly unemployed (while the Obama’s vacay in Hawaii once again) can manage to collect both, they are sure to stimulate the economy.

Nancy said so.

In reading through the article, I got the impression that the organization lost 40 million dollars. If it had not lost 40 million dollars, the employees might not have been laid off. But maybe I didn’t read it right.

If it had not lost 40 million dollars, the employees might not have been laid off.

You are not wrong on that aspect of the situation, but, with a bigger scope, one might notice that, the socialist views of the magazine alienated a huge portion of its readers, which means that, those readers didn't care to continue being subscribers or readers of the socialism espoused within the rag, which means that, losing millions was to be expected under a capitalism based economy, where the clientele determines who lives or dies.

**************

We may see Kirsten Powers leaning more to the right than she’s already done in recent times if her job at Daily Beast seems in jeopardy............ it’s been quite the transformation thus far as it is!

Your point was an excellent one. It reminds me of Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. Her message was the wrong one to the people who bought her music. So they stopped buying it.
