President Obama hosted New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at the White House Thursday morning in an unannounced visit that comes as the administration is preparing a major emergency spending request to cover damage from Hurricane Sandy.
News reports have said the request would be $50 billion, and Mr. Christie reportedly wants tens of billions of dollars more.
White House spokesman Jay Carney declined to talk about specifics from the meeting or to say how much Mr. Obama will request.
"The president is very focused on assisting New Jersey and New York and other affected states in their recovery efforts," he said. "We are working on a request and that request is still being developed and we continue to hope we'll have that request sent up soon."
During the super storm that came during the last days of the presidential campaign, Mr. Christie made headlines for heaping praise on the president for his handling if the federal government's response to Sandy.

Christie was ALWAYS all about Christie and he’ll turn his back on Obama just as quickly as he did to the GOP. Guy’s a loose cannon, reminds me of all the other Rhinos who are only out for themselves, not our Country. Boehner and many other so-callled Republicans are destroying conservatism and must be kicked off the platforms. We must proceed with charges against the Demoncrats for rigging the election, cheating and spending our future. I am sick of all this and I hope to God someone steps up and gets rid of these communists in Washington. The blood suckers have and will continue to ruin our capitalistic and God fearing Nation. God Bless America and to hell with anyone who doesn’t share that sentiment.

I don’t like his hugging, chumming, and hanging with the Marxist-in-Chief either, but I believe he is doing it to shore up his support for re-election in a deep blue state. Is he better for the people of New Jersey than Corzine, or Menendez, or some other Jackass creep? I guess so. He saw what happened to Scott Brown, losing to Lie-a-watha in deep blue Massachusetts and decided to associate himself with the Devil himself, hoping to secure more votes for himself. Remember, Scott Brown was closely associated with Christie because he defeated Martha Coakley just two months after Christie surprised Corzine.
