Last month for retailers, it was all about post-Turkey spending sprees.

In December, at least one retailer is upping the ante by offering an all-night, last minute shopping marathons.

Macy's announced Thursday that it would open all of its stores for 48-hours straight, giving last-minute shoppers wiggle room to buy gifts the weekend before Christmas.

Does Macy's mention Christmas in ads or do they promote "Happy Holidays" instead?

Since RH Macy was a Quaker, why should they mention Christmas?

I saw a catalog (Mrs. Fields) that had a display of cookies called a “Merry Merry” basket.

Not only that, but if they don’t have what you want in stock, they will refer you to a store that has it.

Ding Ding. I think we have a winner. From observation, I’m guessing that December will be a loser for retail sales, even with the MSM pimping like crazy and in spite of inflation. An especially good indication is the complete lack of UPS and FEDEX delivery trucks delivering in the evening time. Last year the trucks were running until 9:00 PM or so. This year, hardly even see them in the daytime. Might just be me or this area, but I don’t think so.

Half the country is well aware of what is going to happen – the other half is looking to Obama Claus to bring them their free goodies.
