My last ex wife had about $30K in jewelry. Her birthday, Valentines day, and our anniversary fell within a single week.

There's a jeweler's kid in Richardson, Texas that I put through medical school.

If you get one nice thing a year, especially if you got it back in the days when gold was much cheaper, then $100,000 (current value) is not that hard to acquire.

Just don't leave them layin' around.

These items will probably be “fenced” to raise money for Obama's Inauguration!

Exactly! There was a time when gold jewelry, and even US Mint Proof coins were on sale, the coins for a fraction of their issue value (in a local store).

That was the year I bought gold for all the adult female relatives (and especially Mrs. Joe) for Christmas. Gold was at roughly $300 then, and the jewelry has appreciated significantly in value.

I can’t help wondering if this has some connection to Issa’s investigation of Holder and Obama. Maybe they were after his hard drive, to see what he had stored on it. If so, can’t blame the burglars for making a little personal profit as well as disguising their real purpose.

Bad things happen to people who cross the Dixie Mafia or the Chicago Mob.

Bet he sold it under the table at a HUGE profit and now can take it as a loss instead of a gain.

Who the hell gets robbed of that much jewelry in this day and age.

I can appreciate your cynicism but it is not always possible to sell jewelry at “a huge profit” a lot of time pieces have sentimental value as they are heirlooms and the appraisal/insurance value often is not what you can actually sell the item for.

and there are people around who have some nice pieces that are usually handed down generation to generation not purchased new

Could be simple theft, but I didn’t see anyone even propose that _they_ are trying to send a message to Issa.

Chicago gets things done w/ threats and intimidation, first; then killings...

This was my FIRST thought when reading the headline.

Does Issa have any kids? If not, this might be the dead fish “message” from the administration.
