NBC 'Today' Crew Fawns Over 'Brilliant' Ashley Judd Possibly Running for Senate

In a panel discussion on Wednesday's NBC Today, the morning show cast excitedly touted the possibility of left-wing actress Ashley Judd running for senate against Mitch McConnell in 2014, with co-host Willie Geist declaring: "She was a delegate to the Democratic convention this summer, she's very involved in politics, she's outspoken." [Watch the video after the jump]

News reader Natalie Morales heaped praise on Judd: "She's a brilliant woman....Harvard, I think....she's a U.N. goodwill ambassador, speaks out on HIV/AIDS prevention. And also, you know, she's done so much good for public – public good and she's a great, very smart woman." Celebrity chef Paula Deen, a guest on the show, chimed in: "I've heard that she's an extremely bright woman." Morales added: "Very."

Fellow co-host Savannah Guthrie did raise some skepticism: "What do you guys think about celebrities running for office?" Deen made the comparison: "Well, look at Ronald Reagan, you know, you – I mean, he's – history loves him."

Geist cheered one left-wing comedian turned politician: "Al Franken has done well for himself in the United States Senate."

Wrapping up the segment, Geist mentioned one of Judd's relatives being critical of the actress's political ambitions: "Ashley's own grandmother put out a statement, said, 'Love her to death, but she's just another Hollywood liberal.'"

... HIV/AIDS prevention...

That's easy enough - no buggery, no poking yourself with someone else's used needle.

Harvard???? No mention of it in her education on Wiki

Judd attended 13 schools before college, including the Sayre School[7] in Lexington, Kentucky, Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland, Kentucky and Franklin High School in Tennessee.[8] She briefly tried modeling in Japan during a school break. An alumna of the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Kentucky, she majored in French and minored in anthropology, art history, theater and women’s studies. She spent a semester studying in France as part of her major, a move that mirrored her role as Reed in the television series Sisters. She graduated from the UK Honors Program and was nominated to Phi Beta Kappa, but did not graduate with her class.[9] Forgoing her commitment to join the Peace Corps, after college she drove to Hollywood, where she studied with well-respected acting teacher, Robert Carnegie, at Playhouse West. During this time, she worked as a hostess at The Ivy restaurant and lived in a Malibu rental house, which burned down during the great Malibu fires of fall 1993. Around that time her half-sister Wynonna Judd gave her a historic farmhouse and some land in Williamson County, Tennessee, so she moved to Tennessee. That farmhouse has been her primary residence in the US ever since.

From everything I have seen about her, I think she is worthless.

She was born with a beautiful body tho.

“....she’s a U.N. goodwill ambassador”

No mention of that, either...

Ashley Judd’s humanitarian work has revolved around becoming a global ambassador for YouthAIDS, a prevention program under the Population Services International. She has been a member of their Board of Directors since 2004, also. Judd has travelled with YouthAIDS to places affected by illness and poverty such as Cambodia, Kenya, Rwanda, and many others.[26]

Inspired by her travels, which allowed her to witness the life of the poor and uneducated, she has since become an advocate for preventing poverty and promoting awareness internationally. She has met with political and religious leaders, heads of states, diplomats, and leaders on behalf of the deprived to convey the message to those who have the power to bring about political and social change.[26]

Judd has also narrated three documentaries for YouthAIDS which aired internationally on the Discovery Channel, in National Geographic, and on VH1.

Hollywood elites are brilliant and smart. Small business owners who worked for everything they have are selfish and evil. Got it./s

“””Geist cheered one left-wing comedian turned politician: “Al Franken has done well for himself in the United States Senate.” “””””

I’m sure he has done well for himself. Maybe not so good for the people of Minnesota though.

Exactly. Maybe Paula Deen should see how “Smart” her TV buddies would think she was if she decided to run for office. I would be anything they wouldn’t focus on her starting/running a catering biz....a Savannah Restaurant and a TV Show. It would be all about how she cooks unhealthy foods and is a diabetic.......

She attended the JFK School at Harvard and she studied French and anthropology at U. Kentucky.

“In 2009, she appeared in a one-minute video advertisement for the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund”

That’s what these guys do. Not ONE goes in for “their wonderful contribution to anti abortion, the killing of humans in genocidal proportions. . .”

I’m so unimpressed I could turn ashen grey.

She’s just another liberal clown but she did graduate from Harvard. Something called “midcareer master’s program in public administration” at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Voters do like celebrities. Do you think any Republican besides Arnold could have been elected in California?
