Coulter: Republicans Should Cave on Tax Hikes Because "We Lost the Election"
Townhall ^ | December 7, 2012 | Guy Benson

Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter

SH: So are you saying that, for PR purposes, that they should give in to Obama on the tax rate?

AC: Not exactly, I--Well, yeah, I guess I am.

SH: You're saying capitulate to Obama? We don't have a revenue problem, Ann.

AC: We lost the election, Sean.

Hannity seems genuinely flummoxed by Coulter's capitulatory attitude, but does she have a point? Recent polling has been gruesome for Republicans. Not only does an overall double-digit plurality favor raising taxes on "the rich," support for extending all current tax rates has plummeted by nearly 30 percentage points in two years...among self-identified Republicans. Well, seems like the people gave the GOP a mandate to control spending by giving them control of the house.

Hell, a coworker told me that if the GOP did this 6 months ago Obama might have been fired next year.

A coworker said that? Well then... It must be true.
If only the GOP had committed party suicide by agreeing to symbolic, drop-in-the-bucket tax hikes on America's producers and employers, then the moocher class wouldn't have re-elected Ubanga. Got it.

why should the pubs protect the rich?.....seriously, they'll avoid the taxes, the ultra rich always do....but its a hot button issue among the people and before ANY cutting can be done, the rich have got to suffer, even if its just a phoney baloney move....

why are we falling on our swords for the stinking rich?....

except for the debt limit dictatorship, I say let the rats have it all...own it all....its not going to end well...

Not exactly, I--Well, yeah, I guess I am.
She reminds me of the old adage about monkeys and typewriters. The Pubbies need to vote "present" for any Obamanations that make it to the floor.

I hope she means, “Go over the cliff and let Ubanga take the blame because it was he, after all, who failed to negotiate in good faith, and it was he who insisted on drop-in-the-bucket, symbolic tax hikes on America’s employers.”

If that’s what she means, okay. I agree completely.

I think that's exactly what she means, Lancey. It fits the narrative of her Nov. 28th syndicated column:

MAKE THE DEMOCRATS OWN THE OBAMA ECONOMY

So this attention whore and Drudge endorse a RINO 4 years after the previous RINO got his ass handed to him, and the RINO loses.

And now she’s saying everyone should give Obammie the Commie whatever he wants.

I’m no conspiracy nut, but she sure sounds more and more like a DNC plant to me.

I watched the show and I think this is not what she was trying to say. Of course, the gas bag Hannity wouldn’t let her get a word in edge-wise. What is it with Hannity and Cavuto? They ask a question, and almost immediately interrupt the person attempting to answer. But I digress...

What I think Coulter was trying to say (and I could be wrong since she was never able to complete a sentence) is that Republicans should let the Democrats raise taxes and have the resulting slump all on them. I don’t think it’s a bad strategy.

It's a good column. If the Republicans did exactly what she lays out, they would own the high ground and Obama would own the economy. Problem is, the Republicans probably lack the discipline to pull it off.

Any Republican in a position to vote on this won his/her last campaign—and should vote in accordance with what he/she advocated or promised in that campaign.

The one thing the Republicans can NOT do is give up control of the debt ceiling.
That would be unforgivable.

Ann is wrong. What they should do is pass bills to make the Bush tax cuts and the payroll tax cuts permanent — for everyone. then repeal Obamacare and its 20+ taxes. The pass spending cuts along the lines of Rep. Paul’s $1 trillion cut.

The Democrats will never allow any of this to pass the Seante, but then you campaign around the country, hitting them on the fact that you passed bills to keep everyone’s taxes low and to stop irresponsible spending and the Democrats would rather put the country’s economy at risk and take more money from your pocket than do that.

Then you refuse to budge and take the sequester, because it’s the only way we’re realistically going to cut anything in the near term.

Obama isn’t going to budge off his higher taxes, so make the Democrats eat it and position yourselves for 2014.

...caving to Ubanga would turn off so many conservatives in the party base that it would kill the GOP. No joke. Dead as a doornail.

That's the way I see it.

Regarding Ann, looks like she needs another spanking, send her to me.
