Now that Barack Obama is safely ensconced in the White House for another four years, several items which should have been noticed or revealed before Election Day have come to the fore. Collectively, they tell us two things: that the pre-election economy was worse than voters were led to believe, and that the prospects for meaningful improvement under the current regime are bleak at best. Additionally, in at least one instance, economic activity itself was likely manipulated.
*snip*
The probable gamesmanship occurred at Government/General Motors, which is still effectively under Obama administration control, still on track to saddle U.S. taxpayers with a loss of $25 billion or more, and still losing market share. Despite already-bloated inventories at its dealers, GMs production lines ran full throttle during September and October. Thanks to that ramp-up and unimpressive sales growth, retail inventories grew by an astonishing 99,000 in October and November.
*snip*
News in the housing market, particularly concerning sales of new single-family homes, suddenly went from pre-election exuberance to post-election bleakness.

You forget. Reagan won while fighting the very same media... Only way worse, because it was ONLY the alphabet channels and nothing else.
The Conservative message has ALWAYS had an uphill climb against the liberal media, but if anything, we've never had it this good before! The internet is a very powerful tool against the liberal media!
I am not against you, but that comment does a disservice to those who went before... and succeeded.
BUMP to your post. It's been a rude awakening, hasn't it?
Man, I know things are getting worse. I just have to look around in my little town. Three more business will be gone. My own employment is not what it use to be. I try to trust in the Lord, but I’m getting very scared.
Frito’s TV looks a lot like Windows 8. :)
They've evolved in how they present things, and have gotten much better (from our perspective, worse) at their propaganda. They figured it our after Reagan beat them, I doubt even he could have won this time. If we don't figure out how to take them out in a new way, it's done. Heck, it may be done already.
That enough people would elect this man again after seeing him in action for four years made me lose all hope.

Realistically, given the dumbed down and greedy nature of a politically significant portion of the population, the only chance left for us is the onset of an economic calamity of historic proportions (think depression). Assuming that government would by then have “run out of other people’s money” this might induce a sufficent about of pain on the masses to make them want to do anything to alleviate that pain. Logic and reason doesn’t work with the Takers; only economic pain and deprivation does.
The feds are borrowing 4.8 billion A DAY. and they're printing 40 BILLION A MONTH on top of that!
There is no economy. We're broke. The whole thing is just smoke.
When it crashes, it'll crash FAST. The elites will already be safely secured in their bunkers by the time we realize it.
And there have been now over three decades more of indoctrination in the socialist public school systems nationwide.
There’s no limit to the greed culture. Even today there are people in Greece demanding their fair share of other people’s labor. The more the left screws up the economy, the more people rely on government. It’s a vicious circle.
Actually the last two candidates needed to take on the media, and McCain and Romney were completely unprepared to do so. Given all the Bush/R negatives in 2008, the only reason we did as well as we did given McCain is that Palin overcame *some* of the media bias, though not nearly enough.
This is why I wanted Cain or Gingrich in this cycle. They were about the only ones in the field with any ability at all to go around the media bias.
Why did MSM employees lie to help the Democrats.. golly, gee. I can only remember that happening every time.
The 1992 election-year economy was the "worst economy since the Great Depression" said the Clinton liars ("It's the economy, stupid!"). The MSM employees obliged by featuring (often with interviews) day-after-day tales of hard times, woe, despair as thousands more each day lost their jobs.
The day after Clinton won the election the MSM employees started reporting that the economy was growing. The Clinton folks explained to inquiring "reporters" that the turnaround happened because with the election of Bill Clinton people just felt better.
The economy was already growing at a rate of three to five percent IIRC in quarters two and three 1992 and continued at that rate through fourth quarter 1992.
If they tried to stop the crash by ending all social programs today ..... there would be riots in the streets.
If they do nothing and let it collapse ..... there will be rioting in the streets.
Either way, no matter what they do, the left has finally run out of other peoples money. Because no one listened to the warnings, there's nothing they can do save it now.
Buckle up, prepare for the worst, and hope for the best.
I'm already there.
You mean, it was...all...a lie?
It was. 2008 was a real shock, even though I have been following with apprehension radical liberalism since the early seventies as a young teenager. I didn't believe Americans would elect someone like Barack Obama. Just didn't believe it.
Then they did, and I deluded myself, thinking things like "They fell for the "Hope and Change"...they voted for him out of white guilt...they had good intentions...they are ignorant of the facts..." and so on.
When Obama was re-elected, it was like someone deliberately grabbing me by the hair, winding up and delivering a full-swing face slap while looking me in the face as they said "No...this is REALLY what America wants."
All I could think of was the vision of Winston Smith from Orwell's 1984 strapped to a gurney with his tortured, decayed and broken body as O'Brien described to him the reality of the situation, and how it was about power...encouraging him to view reality in the following way: "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever."
THAT is what the last election did to me.
The Dem/MSM alliance is a potent one. The MSM propaganda machine runs with all the liberal talking points and provides saturation coverage on an on-demand basis. They are a bunch of corrupt jackals.
IMO the next Republican candidate will have to do more than just stand up to this alliance. That person will have to launch a sustained and vigorous attack against the MSM.
The only way to win at anything is to be stronger, tougher and smarter than you oppoent, or should I say OPPONENTS.
you left off “Black is White”
The media have long since surrendered that facade, and it has emboldened them in ways that would have shocked Americans even in 1979. These two cartoons illustrate that point (in my opinion):
And that means something. I will even venture this far: I would wager there are FAR more people who believe the media is impartial, fair and fully factual than people who believe anything, anywhere on the Internet can be true.
