CAIRO: Struggling to subdue continuing street protests, the government of PresidentMohamed Morsi has approved legislation reimposing martial law by calling on the armed forces to keep order and authorizing soldiers to arrest civilians, Egypt's state media reported on Saturday.
Morsi has not yet issued the order, the flagship state newspaper Al Ahram reported. But even if merely a threat, the preparation of the measure suggested an escalation in the political battle between Egypt's new Islamist leaders and their secular opponents over an Islamist-backed draft constitution. The standoff has already threatened to derail the culmination of Egypt's promised transition to a constitutional democracy nearly two years after the revolt against the former leader Hosni Mubarak.

This would make Huma’s mother a close, personal colleague of the wife of a virulently anti-Semitic racist who has officially been declared the first president-elect of post-Mubarak Egypt. Mursi also sat behind a Muslim cleric at a presidential campaign rally before the first round of elections, nodding in approval as the cleric enthusiastically informed the crowd that under Mursi, Jerusalem would become the new capital of the next Caliphate.

No, when the time comes to "snap fingers", the crisis that it solves will have been initiated, groomed and promoted over previous months and years. Indeed, the calculations involved (or, should I say the choreograpy involved) know that the level of crisis severity needs to be matched with the severity of the solution. The basic theme, though, is that to solve the problem, most of the American public will be supportive.
In Obama’s mind, its only okay for Governments to use force if the Islamists are in charge.

One would hope you are right. Unfortunately, history and precedent do not agree. Recall the WWI vets and the “Bonus Army” in 1932, when General Douglas MacArthur ordered US Army troops to attack those veterans and their families.

2nd Amendment is strictly deterrent against federal encroachment. The Federal government has nuclear bombs, not to mention tanks, missiles, submarines, fighter jets, and crack troops with lifer officers. If the federal government is no longer deterred, and actually decides to take over, you will need not only armed citizens, but armed citizens who will commit to fight, watch their families massacred in reprisal and keep on fighting against a vastly stronger foe.
