LANSING, MI — A judge found that state police were doing their job on Thursday when they locked down the Michigan Capitol building during a protest of right-to-work bills.
But state police and Capitol building officials need to devise guidelines for dealing with these types of situations in the future, said Ingham County Circuit Judge William Collette.
Collette on Friday dissolved the temporary restraining order that was issued on Thursday by Judge Joyce Draganchuk ordering the state police to reopen the Capitol building.
“But anyway, please just keep the building open if at all possible because the Constitution requires it,” Collette said, according to a court transcript. “And I’ve known a lot of union people in my life and they are good people. They don’t cause a lot of trouble. Well, make a lot of noise, but they don’t cause a lot of trouble, all right?”
At least two lawsuits have been filed contending the state violated the Open Meetings Act and citizens’ right of free speech.

The constitution requires that a state capitol building be open to the public?!? Really? I would like to see that provision of the constitution (I assume it's the state constitution, because I'm pretty sure the US Constitution says nothing about public buildings...)

They can be there and quietly watch as Michigan workers are unchained from union slavery. I got no problem with that but its pretty obvious that the union only wants to disrupt.
I read somewhere that it cost almost $7.5 million to repair and clean the capitol building in Wisconsin.

You are aware that police had no problem arresting and pepper spraying the clowns within the first hour or so of the tantrum.
In this case the police and firemen are excluded from the right to work law because they have a different set up. I’m not thrilled with it but they aren’t breaking the state the way teachers, municipal, and factory workers are.
Can you imagine the crap these guys are taking. Union members supporting right to work.

Mike Shirkey was my sight unseen GOP vote in 2010. I voted for him because he’s a republican and he’s turning out to be one of the best.

Well, then things are very different in Michigan than they are here in California. The municipal bankruptcies here, are as a DIRECT RESULT of the profligate spending by those entities on Çops and Firemen. Pick any city in the state and you will find that between 75 and 80% of their costs are DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTABLE to what the cops and the firefighters are being paid. Here in CA it’s doubly bad because these cretins can (and most do) retire at 50 with full retirement and medical benefits for life for them and their spouses. We have had two fire chiefs retire ( from the same district ) in the past three years. In each case, their retirement is something on the order of $100k per year more than they were being paid while working. Just do the math! This is unsustainable.
Bear Spray, Clubs, and lastly bullets should do.
