COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Police sprayed Mace on several people in a crowd that had gathered to sign up for a list to get subsidized housing at a northwest Columbus apartment complex.
Police said the crowd started to gather Friday night for the Saturday morning event at The Heritage apartment complex on Gatewood Road near Sunbury Road in northeast Columbus.
Authorities said that its highest number, the crowd reached 2,000 people.
Residents in the area called police overnight and complained about the noise and number of cars in the neighborhood.
According to police, a melee broke out when the manager of the complex started to set up for the event just before 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
Several individuals were sprayed with Mace by police and treated at the scene by emergency crews.
Police did not report making any arrests.

Why is it fair that some people get generously subsidized housing and others don’t? Obama needs to make sure EVERYBODY gets to live in subsidized housing. How else are we going to achieve a fair society where everybody has everything they need and want? I simply don’t want to live in an unjust society where some have more than others. It isn’t fair.

PS - How soon will it be before the “racism” label is applied? Then too, maybe they want to turn the whole complex into another Cabrini–Green since that project worked out so well .

I hear you. On my block there have been a few foreclosed houses, what with people losing their jobs and going under (or, in one case I know, the “owners” were preferred “borrowers” because they had no legitimate income and were of a “protected class”). Those houses apparently have been turned over to Fannie Mae or some other quasi-government (or outright government) alphabet department because ALL of them are now Section 8 rentals. This in a neighborhood where four years ago there were no rental houses at all.
And, of course, every one of these Section 8 rentals is occupied by unemployed Obama supporters. And their extended families. And their extended families’ boyfriends du jour.
Thankfully, my kids have some pigment. How sad is it that I actually say and think that?
US majority voted for a black, moslem, president, twice, so yes.
Take away their food stamps. They are all overweight.
And they all have cars? WTF? You are fat and have a car but need me to pay for your housing. This sh*t has got to stop.
