Education's Great Divide: My Time in the Trenches
American Thinker ^ | 12/09/2012 | Glenn Fairman

Posted on 12/09/2012 7:40:11 PM PST by wintertime

On perhaps my saddest day of teaching, I was witness to an assembly presented to juniors and seniors at La Puente High School under color of "AIDS Awareness." Within the 45-minute series of very cleverly devised humorous skits and demonstrations, I beheld the barbaric demolition of the underpinnings of the Judeo-Christian West before my very eyes. Along with provocative descriptions of male-on-male coitus and the disparagement "twisted and perverse" directed at anyone who found fault with the emancipated vision of a sexual free-for-all was a single demonstration that elicited only wild applause and profound laughter amongst the audience.

A mid-twenties young woman, in showing how the transmission of AIDS would be nipped in the bud by condoms, unwrapped a condom, placed it in her mouth, and proceeded to insert a cucumber -- using her lips to unroll the condom around the circumference of the vegetable. She then brought students of both sexes on stage and had them perform the same activity -- some with a strange adeptness and others rather clumsily.

I looked around the auditorium to see if a teacher or administrator would stop this, but those in attendance were laughing as hard as the students.

Another reason to homeschool.

What would happen if parents corralled children in their home, and exposed them to explicit sexual material such as this?

There is only one reason why this is done. It is to destroy the natural and protective modestly of the children. Doing this makes them more vulnerable to accepting abuse and makes it more likely that they will fail to form health and lasting marriages. That is the Progressive goal of government indoctrination ( misnamed “schooling”)

Gee! And...Some wonder why I will not have a government teacher for a friend. Personally, I do not know of a single government teacher that is out there publicly protesting this or warning parents to remove their children from this moral filth.

The author states:

” I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the homes of those students when their parents asked Johnny and Mary what they learned in school that day. In hearing the Tale of the Cucumber, I wonder if any were as dumbstruck as I was — that the children they loved above all else had been instructed in an action well-known to any back-alley prostitute.

History is the best teacher. Decadence always precedes cultural decline and political collapse.

At the Catholic schools, some of them, at the Christian schools, some of them, at the Hebrew schools, some of them.

“‎A general State education is a mere contrivance for moulding people to be exactly like one another; and as the mould in which it casts them is that which pleases the dominant power in the government, whether this be a monarch, an aristocracy, or a majority of the existing generation; in proportion as it is efficient and successful, it establishes a despotism over the mind, leading by a natural tendency to one over the body.” (John Stuart Mill)

The government teachers in this school are walking hand and hand with this decadence. Gee! And....I bet many of them claim to “love” their students.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Mentally targeting a neutron bomb at La Puente High School as we speak. Be glad I don’t actually own one. But there would be corpses if that happened here.

Seems to me that that would have been a good time to take a stand.

The vast majority of humans are cowardly livestock.

Humanity has been dragged along by the efforts of relatively few remarkable individuals.

If for no other reason, this is why collectivism is so pernicious: it will deny the flourishing that results when remarkable individuals expose their talent.

I guess we'll see if we have any left, or if we've cut them all off at the knees.

I always wondered why as a 6th grader and a female I had to sit very embarrassed with 6th grade boys while they talked about periods, female anatomy, etc etc. in the name of "sex education"......I've decided that its a perversion on the part of the adults pushing it....

so you can imagine my disgust about the cucumbers....

I do NOT believe any normal young person needs to see this graphic nonsense...its not that hard to pick up on it on your own..sex is not rocket science...

it might be a good thing to have a massive depression with the loss of tv and cable could be raised innocent and polite and happy again..

Why didn't the author say or do something? Seems as if he has the courage to write this up after wards but not during the event. He doesn't have a leg to stand. Like many on these lists all talk and no action.

You claimed to have been a charge Nurse in a psychiatric ward/ hospital for period of time. I am certain that you have heard of the Milgram experiment: (http://psychology.about.com/od/historyofpsychology/a/milgram.htm)

"The social psychology of this century reveals a major lesson: often it is not so much the kind of person a man is as the kind of situation in which he finds himself that determines how he will act." –Stanley Milgram, 1974

Having led men in combat I can attest to the validity of this statement.

Hm?.....Interesting point.

Parents then need to know the situations that children are coping with in their schools and elsewhere.

Maybe this article needs to “go viral” so parents can know what is going on.

wintertime was asked a direct question which he refused to answer: Why didn't the author say or do something?

Please answer the question and there will be no need to ping you.

I have noticed a propensity for his desire stifle opposition by refusing to answer these very simple questions.

I know that you really hate verga, but he posted a link to an article that really explains the mentality.

http://www.gleamingedge.com/mirrors/onsheepwolvesandsheepdogs.html

Basically there are three types of people: Sheep (80%), Sheepdogs (10%), Wolves (10%) While I don't know him personally, I did know his company commander and he had deep respect for vergas's leadership.

wintertime has a literacy issue. Others and myself have tried to explain the difference to him between saying that some has an emotion and that some one is the emotion. I have told him that there is a difference between being a bigot and making bigoted comments but he just doesn't understand. It is either that or he will use any excuse not to address an issue.
