Participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps, reached another high in September, according to new data released by the United Stated Department of Agriculture.
The most recent data on SNAP participation were released Friday, and showed that 47,710,324 people were enrolled in the program in September, an increase of 607,559 from the 47,102,765 enrolled in August.
The number of households enrolled in the program also increased from 22,684,463 in August to 22,973,698 in September, an increase of 289,235. The average benefit, according to the new data, was $134.29 per person and $278.89 per household.
Texas, California, and Florida were the states with the most recipients, the Agriculture Department reported.
The new numbers mean that an estimated one in 6.5 people in America were on food stamps in September.
In the 1970s, one out of every 50 Americans was on food stamps. Since 2001, spending on the program has quadrupled and doubled in the last four years.
USDA notes that its data are preliminary and subject to revisions. Additionally, USDA says, its numbers factor in those on SNAP as a means of disaster assistance, though the September numbers do not include people enrolled in the program due to Hurricane Sandy, which hit New York and New Jersey in late October.
The new numbers come as Newark Mayor Cory Booker is engaged in a highly publicized “Food Stamp Challenge,” attempting to live solely on an approximately $30 weekly benefit for his entire weekly food budget, to raise awareness about the plight of people enrolled in SNAP. The benefit is, however, intended to supplement a person’s overall food budget.
How 'bout, come Jan 1, 2013, we reduce the benefit for all new enrollees by 10%?

But, the “media” won’t bring themselves to ask the questions because the answers would deny their propaganda and make a lie of the whole business.

Back in 2008 Biden and dead fish emnauel on two separate occasions mentioned “generated crisis” as a way to get things done. What will happen is deliberate and planned. Once they have enough takers on the hook all they need to do is reel them in and the party starts. The RICH will now be you and me, people who work, pay taxes and do the right thing. We will be made out to be the enemy and the primary target to be dealt with. Once the party starts there is no turning back and they know it.
Something like “never let a crisis go to waste”.
Since the dims took over congress, they have been setting the table for several crises to happen.
One is economic. Overload and collapse the system.
Another has to do with terrorists.
They have been bowing to islam and flashing weakness all over the world to embolden the feral humans.
They are setting the table for one or both of these crises to occur so that they can be the ones in power to restore order, their kind of order.
This is something the dimrats have been dreaming about for years. After the first 9/11, the media was all upset that Bill Klintoon wasn’t in power then. Made no sense at the time. But given their actions since then, it seems that the dims wish they had been in power when 9/11 hit so that they could turn the full power of the federal government against their internal political enemies, not the actual terrorists.
During obama’s first term, he has spent all his energy trying to destroy his political enemies, not the enemies of the USA.
It’s like watching a slow fuse burning toward an old mine full of gunpowder and nitro.
