Same-sex marriage opponents counted black voters among their allies leading up to November’s election, expecting them to help overturn legislation allowing same-sex couples to marry in Maryland.
Polls in the months before November’s referendum on same-sex marriage seemed to back them up, with black residents showing less support than whites. But as the months wore on, opposition softened, especially in the face of endorsements from President Obama and prominent entertainers, as well as a media campaign that included clergy, athletes and other public figures.
By Election Day, voters in the state’s large, predominantly black jurisdictions — Baltimore and Prince George’s County — joined to support same-sex marriage by a 4-percentage-point margin. In Baltimore, same-sex marriage got 57 percent of the vote. In Prince George’s, where opposition was expected to be very strong, it got 49 percent of the vote.
Statewide, 54.2 percent of voters supported same-sex marriage.
Those results did not surprise many in the black community.

Over the last thirty years democrats have had a stark choice: Abandon principles and morality or abandon party. The groups that still remain democratic have only the thinnest veneer of religion left.
These people have closed their bible and don't intend to open it again.

He’s 1/2 and the 1/2 that is black isn’t even of slavery ancenstory.
The fact that he is 1/2, or rather, “mixed race” and that he chose to be called “black” is proof he is a wimp and purposefully dividing the country and setting it back years in race relations.
As a white man in an interracial marriage it really, really pisses me off.
They didn’t join to support same sex marraige. They joined because Obama is black and regardless of what he supported they would have supported him anyway.
I am not surprised. The new religion of most Blacks is the welfare state.
translation: the Obama campaign put the arm on black preachers (i.e. essentially bought a lot of them off) and got them to convince their flocks to vote Obama anyway despite their misgivings on this issue.

Bingo. Marriage actually won in all four states if voter fraud were discounted.
