What don’t Republicans in Congress understand about the Christmas Strategy?

Sometimes I think we would be better off leaderless. Senator: GOP could accept tax hikes on very rich:

"There is a growing group of folks looking at this and realizing that we don’t have a lot of cards as it relates to the tax issue before year end,” [Tennessee Senator Bob] Corker told Fox News Sunday.

If Republicans agree to Obama’s plan to increase rates on the top 2% of Americans, Corker added, “the focus then shifts to entitlements and maybe it puts us in a place where we actually can do something that really saves the nation.”

the focus then shifts to entitlements...

What is the force that causes that to happen? Is it some law of physics I have not heard of before? Might it be gravitational in nature? magnetic? Newtonian.... Relativistic? Perhaps, it is a weather phenomena that causes it... perhaps even the result of the venerable Glowbull Warming itself!

Here's what he says:

I say call his bluff. If a deal which tackles deficits from both revenue and spending can be reached this month, great.
If not, pass a 90 day extension of current tax rates and whatever else is needed to postpone the “cliff,” and go home for Christmas to give time for a Grand Bargain which puts Democratic sacred cows on the table.”

If you read closely he is saying to give into O, but only for 90 days. But he words it as if he is not even saying that.

Obama is doing the leg work to prepare voters to blame Republicans for anything bad that happens so they better not act stupid as they usually do.

I hate to think of the deal they would get from Obama, given the past history of these deals.

Corker is a dope. The media of course put an agreeable moderate republican up against a militant uncompromising leftist like Schumer.

This is why the democrats love moderate republicans or “reasonable republicans” as they call them.

Of course obama will get his “tax increase on the rich”, it will be meaningless in terms of cutting the deficit, he will continue to spend like a drunk at happy hour and taunt the GOP and travel around on a perpetual campaign masquerading as leadership, inciting crowds and challenging the GOP to give him a “plan to cut entitlements”

the democrats get to be santy claus with spending and the GOP gets to be the bad cop who has to tell the crowd the party is over

WTH don't these clueless GOP fumblers get sharp businessmen and PR firms to build them a unified campaign to win this battle and at least allocate responsibility for outcomes?

The tax issue IS the card to play to force Filth to negotiate on entitlements. Without it, WHAT entitlement negotiations will occur?

Sure Corker

You’re going to give an alcoholic an increase in his allowance and a bigger line of credit

THEN you’re going to get tough on him about cutting back on his drinking and maybe really save him....

(and maybe skittle-crapping unicorns will appear on Capitol Hill)

Bo and his gangsters will not support any move to save the country. His war is with free America.

Obama is setting us up to be the Grinch that stole Christmas.

Obama has said he’ll make cuts, but he refuses to say where...that’s his game.

As soon as the GOP suggests a specific cut anywhere, Obama will get on his high-horse, point his finger, and say “the Republicans want to take away your __________,” hoping the GOP will fold and accept “promised future cuts.”

Obama wants tax increases not to reduce the deficit but to do more spending. We are out of money, so the only way to do more spending is to increase taxes.

I am reminder of the peanuts cartoon where Lucy promises Charlies Brown that he can kick the football and she will not pull it away.
