You are probably dead on regarding the SSN and refugee status.
It all adds up. It also disqualifies him.
For any given SSN, the odds are in favour that it is legitimate. So somebody in Connecticut was probably handling his paperwork. Maybe a lawyer.
I do believe FMD is his father. His comments about his dad teaching him about jazz, among other things, seal it for me.
