Intel report: US will no longer be sole superpower by 2030

The report, issued by the National Intelligence Council, talks of "inevitable" decline as a large reason for the shift.

A new report by the intelligence community projects that the United States will no longer be the world's only superpower by 2030.

"In terms of the indices of overall power - GDP, population size, military spending and technological investment - Asia will surpass North America and Europe combined," the report concludes.

"Global Trends 2030: Alternative Worlds" - prepared by the office of the National Intelligence Council of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence - projects that the "unipolar" world that emerged after the fall of the Soviet Union will not continue.

"With the rapid rise of other countries, the 'unipolar moment' is over and no country - whether the U.S., China, or any other country - will be a hegemonic power," the report argues.

"The United States' relative economic decline vis-a-vis the rising states is inevitable and already occurring, but its future role in the international system is much harder to assess," it argues.

"Global Trends" projects that the United States will retain a unique role in the international system - in part because of its history and past leadership.

"The U.S. most likely will remain 'first among equals' among the other great powers, due to the legacy of its leadership role in the world and the dominant role it has played in international politics across the board in both hard and soft power," it argues.

And the intelligence community does not believe the United States will be supplanted as the world's only superpower by another country.

I have news.

By the time Obama leaves in 2016 we will no longer be the world’s only Super Power.

Obama will see to that with the help of the Democrats and the RINO’s.

Heck, China’s already a superpower and Russia is making a comeback fast.

Why is the title so long?

“The U.S. will no longer be.”

I used to not believe in conspiracy theories, but am beginning to change my mind.

It has been said that the nations needed to become economically tied to other nations so no wars could take place. Then the populace needed to be broken up with immegrants from other nations so no group could have a political monopoly.

It appears to me that that is what is happening to Europe and the USA now.

If the systematic runination of this nation was not a man made disaster, it was planned and orchestrated in another realm by super evil forces.

It took forty years for liberals to demolish the nation and American culture. Given they had almost total power over the culture and wealth, Americans held on suprisingly well.

But I think it might be over now. It tipped with foreigners. When people are dirt poor, demoralized, oppressed and mostly dead, their work is accomplished.

By 2016 we won’t have a nuclear deterrent force...and will no longer be a superpower. China’s nuclear arsenal will eclipse what we have now.

No, and no. Sorry. China isn’t going anywhere. China’s peaked, they aren’t going to have the money to do much.

Isn’t that why we elected a foreign agent?

The US may not even be a power in 2030. Thank God I won’t be here.

The report must assume Obama will still be president in 2030.

RE: The report must assume Obama will still be president in 2030.

Not necessarily. However, it assumes that DEMOCRATS will be mostly in power for the next 20 years and the majority of Americans WILL NOT MIND the loss of superpower status.

It has been said that the nations needed to become economically tied to other nations so no wars could take place.

I don't know why they would say that.

When Germany invaded France in WWII, that country was its largest trading partner.

When Japan launched its sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States was its largest trading partner.

This is the same “intelligence community” that asserted in 1975 that the Soviet Union was going to surpass the US in GDP and military prowess.

I think Obama plans to accomplish this while still in office.

No, China is not a superpower. They are still a regional power who do not have the ability to flex military power beyond their neighborhood and they do not have soft power either beyond their immediate neighborhood. They do have the ability to project economic power beyond their borders

Russia fails on all of these except the flexing military power -- where they can creak through

But by 2016, this may change, thanks to 0
