Syria: Assad Already Using Chemical Weapons On Civilians – Activists

Global concerns over Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles grew after U.S. officials this week privately said the regime had begun mixing chemicals that could be used for the lethal nerve agent sarin.

On Saturday, Syrian told the United Nations that it would never use chemical weapons against its peoples and warned that opposition fighters are the ones who could use chemical weapons.

But videos uploaded on the web by activists proved otherwise.

The video showed the destruction caused by what they identified as chemical weapons. They said the fire was caused by a tank dropped from a Syrian warplane and was uncontainable by either water or dirt and was releasing toxic substance as it was bubbling underneath the ground.

In another video, armed opposition captured equipment used as a protection against chemical weapons or gases.

Some media reports said that the substance had been loaded into bombs for warplanes.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Saturday there was evidence the Syrian government could actually employ chemical weapons against the insurgency as an effort to try and contain the conflict which resulted in the death of 42,000 people in nearly 21 months.

It sounds like napalm or WP, but does Sarin or VX have an incendiary component? Could it also be a blister agent? I really don't know.

Lovely, why am I reminded of the old saying “They created a desert, and called it peace.”

One of the memes of the left is that WP is a chemical agent. It allows them to make the charge that Israel uses “chemical weapons” against the Palis, when they use WP rounds.

IF WP nor napalm are chem weapons, then HE is a chem weapon. It’s the usual propaganda from Sunni Arab rebels. Besides, if they’re winning, why all the quibbling over something that, pound for pound, is less effective than HE?

I agree with the napalm or Willy Peter incendiery call. High heat destroys nerve agents so that wouldn't make sense.

If nerve agents were dispersed the container would probably have a bursting charge but it wouldn't be a persistent burn.

I wouldn’t doubt if the MB used it on the general public and blamed Assad.

There would be no point in burning the agent that is being delivered. Heat degrades/destroys the properties of the chemical weapon, eventually rendering it less potent or harmful.

This is probably only an attempt to drag the US into their war so we can shed more blood for their stinkin’ caliphate.

Let’s see. Assad is somewhat tolerant of Christians and the oppsition isn’t. Let Assad do what ever he wants to stay in power. The fact that Obama is Assad’s and my common enemy is just icing on the cake.

White Phosphorus. Does not require air to burn, and will burn until it is consumed.

Getting rid of Assad would be like getting rid of Hussein (the guy in Iraq, not the one in the WH).

Is Iraq better of today? Are Iraqi Christians better of today than they were under Saddam?

Deposing Assad would only mean the installation of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria — certainly not much of an improvement over what they have now.
