It took one bullet in the back of the head to kill a 31-year-old man visiting Manhattan on Monday, in a shocking, broad-daylight attack near Columbus Circle and Carnegie Hall, a police source said Monday.

The suspect, described as wearing a brown hoodie, a dark coat and khaki pants, fled the scene in a grey vehicle, cops said.

"He was bleeding bad,” Kolo said. “Blood was gushing out of his eyeball, his nose, mouth, everywhere. He was talking a little. Or trying to. He was alive for good two minutes."
"You could not even see anything on one side of his face. It was gone,” he continued. “Half of his face was gone. Poor bastard. I didn’t even see a shooter. I hope they catch him."

Drug gangs, I bet. I read about it in the NY Post, and they described both the shooter and the victim as black. And the car certainly sounds like a drug car.
They had a similar incident a few months ago in Harlem. A man just walked up to another man sitting in a car, shot him in the head, and strolled away to a waiting car. I’m not sure they caught the killer, but the victim was known to have been a biggie in the drug world, and the cops thought there was a turf war going on.

Keep a watch on this story. There was a Criminal Minds story several years ago thar presented random shootings in NTC by guys in hoodies that were eventually tied to jihadis. If this happens again then there’s a real problem.

I was just thinking about that episode while I read the article.
Columbus Circle is a relatively safe place. But it might be frequented by drug sellers selling to white clients who don’t dare go into the ‘hood. I know that used to be common in Washington Square. So, it sounds more like a quarrel between drug gangs than anything else. Some gang trying to invade another gang’s sell spot.
Where’s Bloomie when you don’t need him?.............................. Probably in his office cleaning HIS guns?
See if it happens a few more times. Creating fear and uncertainty by random violence is effective, Also, a single gunshot and a quick walkaway is less easily tracked than someone unloading a full mag from a Mac10. As for the Mafia, pro hitters like .22s not pistols that blow someone’s face away. If this was a drug or gang then NYPD will find how the out of town vic is connected to the business. If he’s totally random then it’s either a Son of Sam redux or the muzzies watch criminal minds reruns.

There are so many surveillance cameras in Midtown, I expect they already have video and photos of the shooting, the shooter and the getaway car license plate and getaway car route.
Assassinations and gang hits are almost always done with a .22 LR. Us, the Russians, the Mossad, etc.

True - and also I’m with you on the .22 as the perfect assassination gun of choice. It’s quiet and effective. The Israeli Mossad uses it and also the .22 rifle in urban sniping. Bet that shooter used a 9mil Glock or similar.
His latest attack has been on firing range time for the cops ~ they obviously don't get enough of it and are incapable of properly operating the pitiful firearms they are issued.
He was wearing a hoodie. First of all, will black congressmen wear hoodies on the floor in a show of support? And two, did they guy have any Skittles?
Of greater importance, per chance was the victim gluttonously gulping a 32 oz. or larger sugary drink in violation of NYC prohibited substances laws? If so, the shooter could have been a rogue unhinged vigilante food policeman.
Is why I’m glad I live in Washington state. When I’m home I always carry my Beretta Tomcat in .32cal - loaded with Glaser Safeties and Hydra-Shocks. In Australia they’ve pretty much banned all firearms. If you just want to keep your lowly .22 rifle you have to fill out 20 pages of forms. But yet they still have gun deaths; and they try to compare it with US gun deaths. A country of 22 million vs a country of 320 million and they say there’s more gun deaths (per capita) in the US because of our liberal gun laws.
I live in ‘da hood and get to see more than my share of brutha-ly love. I would have to tell you that they prefer their “9’s”.
True, but a pro or a terrorist or even a madman would know about the cameras and account for them. Right now the NYPD has the vids and know if they’re valuable. If it ends with this vic then it’s a hit. Hopefully it ends here.
I recently upgraded from a .22lr semi to a Bersa Thunder 32. When I go out, I usually take along my new Bersa Thunder 9 UC Pro. Nice pistol! Have started to carry an extra 17 round mag too.
