SALT LAKE CITY She was an alpha female known as 832F to scientists, but lovingly called " '06" by local tourists, after the year of her birth. She was the most famous wolf in all of Yellowstone National Park, and led the Lamar Canyon wolf pack.
832F wandered outside of the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park Thursday, where she was shot and killed legally by hunters in Wyoming. That was made possible by recently-passed federal and state regulations that allow the killing of wolves as game.
The changes have made headlines and caused controversy, with hunters and ranchers treating wolves as a threat to be eliminated, while conservationists and scientists are alarmed by the hunts that come so soon after wolvers were re-introduced into the area in 1995.
832F is so named because she was a research wolf. Scientists had fastened a $4,000 collar to her neck with GPS tracking technology that allowed them to track her movements and better understand both her habits and the life of the pack.
832F was also popular with tourists because of her immense size and ability as a hunter. Park wildlife experts said that she could take down animals on her own, according to the New York Times. Wolf advocates said that she was a devoted mother to her cubs as well as being leader of a relatively large pack.
She's the latest in a series of collared research wolves shot by hunters, with four being killed in the last few weeks.
Marc Cooke with the group Wolves of the Rockies alleged hunters were targeting collared animals, either for bragging rights or out of spite for wolf restoration in the Northern Rockies. Shooting a collared wolf is not illegal if it's done within state hunting regulations.

I entirely agree. Maybe the cloning people can get to work on the dire wolf and sabre-toothed tiger remains they find at LaBrea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. The clones can be released to re-populate their natural habitat.
...and was an aspiring rap artist.
These parasites of society (conservationists and "scientists") whether private or public, are always anti-people, plus they struggle violently to make sure that THEY are the only ones annointed enough to enjoy nature generally, and public lands specifically.
I hate the delusional controllers, and I'm neither a hunter, hiker or the outdoorsty type. But I like to think that if I ever become one, I won't have to fight the army of otherwise unemployable, delusional ones.
If they didnt want the thing shot they should have put an orange vest on it.

Gee, wonder why the ranchers considered her a “threat”???
Genetically, wolves are just another breed of dog. Kill all the wild ones.
When’s the car wash?
I guess she’s a Zomby Woof now.
Right, where are the prepubescent teenage girls with
ponytails standing in the mall parking lots.
Save the wolves Carwash!
Pictures of cuddly wolf pups, etc
It doesn’t matter to the anti-hunting people if there five hundred wolves or five million. It wouldn’t matter if the wolves were not only taking livestock but killing the occasional human. Ditto for deer hunting where I live. At one point I hit four deer in five years. There were just too many, and the number of motorists and bikers killed in collisions with deer was rising. But the anti-hunters don’t care. These are the people for whom animals are just as important as humans.
She was a straight A student, and if Obama had a wolf, it would look just like her.
Her neighbors said she was quiet and kept to herself, mostly.
What were her conclusions on the effectiveness of rifle ammunition?
A close friend of mine, a wildlife biologist and close neighbor, had a canid 89% wolf. My friend build her a habitat on her wooded property, but she was just as welcome in the house. Loved that animal. When I was helping with my friend’s move we were taking a breather, siting on the stairs. This ‘wolf’ sat next to me with a canine smile and hitched me down one step.
Well, they might eliminate any homeless people issues .....
From what I've read about Virginia, she deserved it..........
In other words, wolves are self-sufficient, independent and family oriented. WHY, then, do leftists love them so much???;)
Now if we can lure out some more of the wolves in Yellowstone Park, perhaps the elk herd will be able to survive. I would LOVE to lure wolves out of the local Fed. Wildlife Area near me now that we have a wolf season. The wolves here have almost desimated the entire deer heard. Time for the wolf population to be reduced BIG TIME.
I like the way you think.
