Gun owners say boondoggle puts them in license limbo
Boston Herald ^ | December 10, 2012 | John Zaremba and Chris Cassidy

Gun ownership advocates are pushing for a return to lifetime firearm licenses, saying the state’s 1998 get-tough gun control laws have created a bureaucratic nightmare that turns them into lawbreakers, while cash-strapped police departments say they are swamped.

“It’s a license that’s mandated by a state that cannot supply it,” said James Wallace, president of the Gun Owners’ Action League of Massachusetts, which is pushing a bill to speed up the process by eliminating renewals — and instead just yanking licenses from people when they violate the terms. “It’s taking so long that people are technically illegal, and they’re scared to complain, because they’re illegal.”

For gun owners in licensing limbo, hunting or transporting weapons is out of the question, and even keeping them locked up at home is illegal.

Even CA doesn’t require gun owners to be licensed.

Would conservatives still living in libtard-occupied America please leave already, and reinforce the conservatives in more conservative states?

Quit propping up your majority of liberal moochers and parasites.

When the nation's chief law makers and law enforcers choose to not enforce certain laws (immigration comes to mind), it breeds disrespect for the law

I have already determined in my own mind that certain laws require disobedience by a cognizant man.

Can't say anything more than that.

The whole situation was instituted by Romney. I hope it gets turned around but not holding my breath.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against... We’re after power and we mean it... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

Well someone has to stick around to pick up the pieces.

There is an order for laws.

1. God’s law
2. Natural Law
3. The Constitution (original intent)
4. Sate Law
5. Local Law

Obey the higher laws over the lower laws.

You may have to face consequences for disobedience. That’s a matter of your own conscience.

At AresArmor.com you can build a gun from parts and don’t even need a license to have it.

I had my license before Romney was governor. He changed the licensing from a four year renewal to a six year renewal perior. The fee went from $25 to $100. The process remained the same.

That which is licensed is not a right; but rather, is a privilege. And privileges can be taken away as easily as they may be granted.

An FID was permanent for life when I first got mine.

How much was the license to openly express your opinion on politics or religion? Or to not be forced to house troops in your home? How much to be ensured a fair and speedy trial by your peers?

Hell, I can remember when one of the hardware stores in the (formerly) small town I grew up in had a rack of shotguns out on the sales floor. Chained but there.

Whatever happened to that once-sane state?

Sorry, you’re wrong also. Paul Cellucci.

Peet is wrong. Sorry.

Celluci signed the original.

You are correct that Romney signed a LATER bill pushed by GOAL to relax one section of the law but had poison-pills added by (surprise) demo-rats. I BADLY misread your post.

Again, Sorry!

Maybe you would care to enlighten me. I’ve lived here most of my life and I had my FID (for life) when I first applied until Romney screwed it up.

Yeah, I had an FID for life also. Politicians arbitrarily changed the rules.

But you got the wrong governor — Paul Celluci signed CH180 acts of 1998, not Romney. So it was Celluci and his fellow demo_rats/cockroaches on beacon hill who screwed it up.

Romney signed a bill lowering the fee and extending the term for LTCs. The bill originated with GOAL — Mass’ gun rights roganization.

The above paragraph is documented at goal.org and everything above that is EASILY found with your favorite search engine...

HTH, HAND,
Peet
