Well, here we are. Savage Time!
I couldn’t get FRmail a little bit ago. Glad I checked back and saw yours!
I wish Savage would ask the qualifications of the critics of talk radio -- like the caller.. ASK IF THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DNC!
Entertainment radio, Savage is calling for. eh, if I want entertainment, I’ll turn on TMZ or some other lindsey lohan channel.
I was listening and had been listening since the early 1940s..
The most oft-heard caller comments were like.. "I didn't know that others believed as I believe! You (the host) are saying the things that I've been thinking for years!"
Over the years I heard a lot of callers tell the host about how they have listened and for the first time understood how they have been wrong to blindly vote liberal..
yes conservative talk radio is borrrrrrrring.. for liberal pukes who want it stopped! Who are these experts and consultants saying that conservative talk radio must change?
We’re off. Early work days for the next week and a half
I agree. But if Savage wishes to switch to entertainment (à la CoastotCoastAM) then go for it, Dr. Savage, I know that you will do well; perhaps even beat prime-time TV.
But, Dr. Savage, stop bashing your competitors -- now you are even screaming about their wealth! Professional jealousy?
(Yes, Dr. Savage, who am I to criticize successful people. I am a nobody. I have no education, my IQ is too low to measure. I failed at everything . . . .)
I’ve been listening to Savage for years, part of what I like about him is that there are no sacred cows in the media, he’ll attack O’Reilly, Beck, anybody right or left, it is part of the reason I listen to him because I can’t take the way either the Liberal media shills for each other or the Fox News wing doing the same thing. I mean who here didn’t think it was comical that every single time Dick Morris appeared on Hannity or O’Reilly he was shilling his book, what was the point of Morris being on the air, certainly not for cogent political analysis.
Frankly I don’t understand the people here who claim to be Savage listeners yet whine about how he bashes other hosts. He has been doing this for his entire radio career, if you don’t like this I don’t see how you are a regular listener.
Savage is so crazy that he’ll even bash Donald Trump a few months after he has Trump on his show, that is interesting, that is real, that is not the robotic Hannity who will support you no matter the situation as long as you are an accepted member of the Fox News conservative club.
“He has been doing this for his entire radio career, if you dont like this I dont see how you are a regular listener.”
Mike, I’m a Savage listener going back to 2001. So i can tell you that the bashing started in late 2004, when Savage couldn’t stop bashing O’reilly who didn’t let the swift boat veterans for the truth (against John Kerry) onto his FOX program. It was then that he labeled him the “Leprechaun”... From there on he went on to bash “Hush Bimbo”... A few years later he started with the “Wallbanger” and so on... Until that time (2004) his show was pure news driven, advice, story telling entertainment. The show was focused on himself not on the competitor.
Now he does a 2 hour live show he focuses almost entirely on bashing and putting down other hosts. As much as i like Savage i can not deny that he comes across as a jealous little crying baby.

I have to confirm what scott55 said because I too was listening to Savage those years plus I have been listening to Savage since he started on KSFO in 1995.
I want to emphasize that we are talking about conservative host competitors of Dr. Savage. I know about the ultra liberal and hostile KGO hosts of those days.
(In fact, Dr. Wattenberg of KGO helped fellow PhD Savage deal with and overcome the KGO hosts' harassment -- did you know that Savage just weeks ago dismissed Wattenberg as a jerk, or similar term, when a caller mentioned the now competitor of Savage's?)
I honestly never missed a minute of his show throughout the 1990s.. I even went to work a 0500 to make sure I'd be able to leave by 1600.
Savage was not supportive of his fellow KSFO hosts -- often claiming that he was responsible for the success of the station -- and questioned the activism of some of the others like Melanie Morgan.
But Savage did not call them names and I do not recall that he ever mentioned them by name (except once, see below) -- and the other hosts kept their distance from Savage.. at least while on the air.
Savage had his off-air disputes with Jim Eason (who was switched to KSFO after years at KGO), Savage screwed weekend host Spencer Hughes by demanding that he (Savage) be allowed to take the weekend slot to do the interview Hughes arranged with 1996 presidential candidate Pat Buchanan, and the only time I remember Savage mentioning another host by name was Barbara Simpson.
In those days KSFO did not permit "best of" shows and Ms Simpson filled in and made the unforgivable mistake by saying that Savage was off that day on vacation -- Savage was furious the next day and roundly condemned Ms Simpson for her mistake.
But even without considering all the good that Savage has done (he showed that conservatives had to start "giving it right back at the liberals") weighed against what I consider the negative Savage is a conservative and very talented personality..
and I emphasize again that for me a talk show host is not a "home team". I have no favorites.. talk radio is a business first but a close second is it is about America. I do not care which ego wins the pennant.
