Fined Church Cited Again

Police interrupted a church service Sunday morning when neighbors called about noise--again.

Just last week Rehoboth United Assemblies Church was fined $700 for noise citations. At that time, church leaders said they would monitor the noise during their worship.

This is totally ridiculous, the church was there for 30 years and then built crappy townhouses almost on top of the church. It is the town fault for allowing them to be built, and the developer for using substandard material. A little soundproofing would of gone a long way. I think I will send a donation, to help pay their fines, it is a matter of principle. Where is the ACLU in this matter?

Personally I rather enjoy stopping at the gas station on Sunday mornings and hearing the Assembly of God making a Joyful Noise next door.

Buy a townhome next to a Church and SHOCKINGLY find out that on Sunday morning there’s like... lots of people, singing and praying. I know, it’s just CRAZY to think such a thing could occur.

That’s enough for me. They shouldn’t be fined at all. This is an overreach of the law, period.

It’s like building a house across from a farm and then start complaining about having to smell pig sh*t.

agreed. this is what is so stupid about the “law”.

we should have free choice. if you don’t like it, don’t move in next door.

only an idiot could defend this type of behavior.

this is like a city condemning your property so they can use it to give it to someone else so they can get more “tax” money.

the whole concept is contrary to freedom.

This is not unlike how they decided to build airports for places like Pittsburgh and Toledo way out in the boonies west of town, only to have developers move in and put up new housing next door to them, creating a bunch of new neighbors who began criping about the noise.

When I was a kid, we moved into a neighborhood next to Forbes Air Force Base in Kansas. This was the mid-1960s and they didn't fly little planes into that base. Mostly, it was the massive B-52 bomber size.

When we complained about it to Dad (a former Navy pilot in World War II) he told us curtly "Get used to it. That's the sound of freedom and a paycheck for most of your neighbors. I picked this neighborhood because it has great schools. Someday, you'll appreciate it."

Dad was right.
