Ingraham to Cumulus and WMAL?
DC Radio & TV ^ | 12/12/12 | Dave Hughes

Posted on 12/12/2012 12:30:26 PM PST by raccoonradio

Tom Taylor via his new radio biz newsletter tells us that DC-based righty political gabber Laura Ingraham should announce her new syndication deal today. Will it be with Cumulus? That was the hallway talk at last week's Arbitron Client Conference in Annapolis. Ingraham is the second high-profile talk personality to split from Talk Radio Network. The first one was Michael Savage, and he landed at Cumulus.

Ingraham joined TRN from Westwood in 2003 and was rewarded with a daytime slot instead of her previous nighttime gig. That helped free her up for other work, such as appearances on Fox News. When she left TRN, she said it was time to "expand and re-tool my radio program" - perhaps broadening it past politics to more topics around popular culture. DCRTV wonders: Cumulus owns WMAL. Might the DC talker put Ingraham in the late morning slot, replacing Chris Plante? Stay tuned.....

Better not. Chris Plante is a great local voice.

I am NOT comfortable. Where could they put her except in the morning position? We love our Chris Plante! They made a mistake getting rid of him before, let’s not go there again.

Other alternative: sticking her in the time slot now occupied by Michael Savage. I can do without him completely. I was so disappointed when they cut John Batchelor to two hours, 11 p.m. - 1 a.m. and stuck Savage in that 9 - 1 slot.

WMAL management seems to have a real gift for making stupid decisions.

I hate not having my morning Laura here in the mitten.

I'd like that, especially if it gives Chris a foothold onto national coverage!

Waiting to hear the official word.

Cumulus just re-upped with Imus. They also syndicate
Geraldo, Mike Huckabee, Mark Levin, and Michael Savage.

Thanks for ping.

WMAL would make an enormous mistake to replace Chris Plante with Ingraham.

Plante is in a league of his own. He could easily replace Rush...and WMAL considers replacing Plante with second-rate Ingraham???

What a dreadful idea. Say it isn’t so!

Is this the same Laura Ingraham who dissed the Tea Party after Obama’s election, and basically told us to sit down, shut-up, and accept the Boehner compromise to the first debt/spending deal with Obama?

Sorry, but Laura is nothing but an inside-the-beltway, establishment type. I also get tired of her snarky attitude. I don't miss listening to her one bit!

I would say replace Hannity.

Then again, he is the closest thing they have to a non Conservative and they (mgmt) probably think he is the ‘lib’ in the mix.

Chris Plante is - and I’m making quotation marks with my fingers - annoying and repetitive.

I wonder if this is why he was mysteriously absent without reason?

===============

Even better.

I wasn't suggesting Plante should replace Rush---only that Plante is that unique. Very different but just as unique and brilliant.

However, Rush isn't ready to retire.

In the meantime, there is a thread for Hannity's radio show posted on FR every day. It rarely ever even has ONE post.

What does that tell us?

Hannity has good "gets," but he is a terrible interviewer. I don't know what Hannity's ratings are for his radio show, but I wouldn't miss Hannity if Ingraham filled his slot.

I rarely listen to either of them.

First I’ve heard about any of this. Lots to speculate on, here... Googling for any info.

It crossed my mind more than once or twice. The timing (coupled with the Thanksgiving experience I mentioned). Double whammy for Plante.

Why I think this may be more than a rumor is that Ingraham wants to be in Washington. Her ratings are probably stronger than Plante’s...and she would add diversity-— a FEMALE.

Yuk! I can’t bear to think of it.

As someone up-thread said:

Laura has more pull than Plante nationwide and with Cumulus bigwigs — so I wouldn’t doubt if she replaces Chris on that time slot (9am - Noon).

Chris go do 5am - 9am — and that way we can get rid of Brian Wilson and Larry O’Connor, who talk over each other all the time! So annoying!
