Former Rep. Mark Schauer (D-Mich.) was hit with pepper spray while protesting “right to work” legislation outside the Michigan state capitol on Wednesday.
“I immediately began to retreat and began to cover my eyes and my mouth,” he told the Battle Creek Enquirer. “It was not good.”
Meanwhile, Fox News contributor Steven Crowder was punched repeatedly in an altercation with one protester.
Schauer served one term; he beat Rep. Tim Walberg (R) in 2008 only to lose to the former congressman two years later.
Tear gas was sprayed at least once, according to the Detroit Free Press. At least two people were arrested for trying to force their way into the George W. Romney building, where Gov. Rick Snyder (R) has an office. The governor has pledged to sign the contentious legislation, a final version of which passed the state House on Wednesday.

Not going to give WaPo any hits - but I doubt they mentioned all the record fines Schauer got for his union criminal activities. Moving piles of campaign money around illegally.
Tens of thousands of dollars in fines.
He sould have been prosecuted, but had Moleface running shotgun for him and Mike Cox turned a blind eye.
There is an obvious bias from the left in that article....
I was stuck with this disgusting turd his whole political career. I’ll just acknowledge this news with a little smile.
I bought the print edition of the Washington Post this AM; front page photo of union members sitting peacefully in rotunda of capitol, one particularly scholarly fellow looking up at a speaker with rapt attention. The entire article accompanying, and continued to inside page, did not mention the assault on the tent or the violence. Not one word.
Funny how they couldn't report on the assault until they had a dem side to lead with.
Was the attack on the rioting RAT taped?
How did Schauer earn his nickname "Golden"?
BTW, who do you think squirted the pepper spray? No indiction in the WaPo story.
Also, the WaPo writer refers to Steve Crowder as a "comedian." I saw him on Hannity the past two nights and he hardly looked like one.
Schauer was hit with pepper spray by a union thug who thought he was hitting a tea partier.
I wondered what he was up to since we fired him.
