But until these small mobs sense that they could face repercussions, they will just get bolder.

in Central Indiana they'll have to wait until the field corn and/or the soybeans ripen.

Yes, and live pork chops look a bit different from the items they're used to seeing on plastic trays at the Food Lion.

That's when they start looking for the farm house ...

Better have that .270 out and ready to rock.

I’m sure if two black women were treated this way in a white neighborhood the MSM would have reacted the same way...

Many of those crack addicts became so because the lesser drugs, they thought they were buying, were laced with more addictive substances...

Assumptions and conjecture. We have no data. Even if you are right the fact remains that the current population will continue to prefer hard drugs over mild ones. We do not have the luxury of starting fresh.

...no rational person would buy a drug that would cause intense addictions...

Plenty of rational people knowingly use highly addictive and dangerous drugs. Many assume that "it won't happen to me." Some feel pressured to participate regardless of the risks. A sizeable fraction have given up and simply don't care anymore. The reasons go on and on. The addicts that I have met invariably still think that they are in control. The hardest part of dealing with addiction isn't getting the addict to come clean, it's convincng him that he has a problem in the first place.

They won't be shambling, moaning zombies ... dead, half-rotten, dripping blood and slime ...

Some of them will be obvious gang-bangers.

Others will look like poor, starving, helpless refugees.

All will pose a lethal threat to the residents of the farm house.

Are you mentally prepared to shoot a hungry teenage girl with a skinny, undernourished baby in her arms? Are you even mentally prepared to tell her to go the hell away?

Serious questions, BTW ... I don't expect an answer.

The persecution that Bernie Goetz suffered at the hands of the state WAS FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE of ensuring a future where these young girls would be forced to endure these animals in public places.

When they are done with Zimmerman it will be FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE of ensuring a future where young girls like this will be forced to endure these animals in PRIVATE places.

Good questions, and I won't offer any answers. Each person will have to decide for themselves.

Bottomline though is that if things get really, really bad, a whole lot of people with lots of food in their pantry are going to find themselves psychologically unprepared for what they may have to do.

We already have an established pattern that limited tolerance, and regulation, for mind altering substances, does work. The end of Prohibition.

During Prohibition, the gangs got rich and dangerous. They outgunned the police, in most cases. They tore apart neighbourhoods and burned cities, and cops became corrupted. However, when Prohibition ended and regulation of liquor was allowed, the gangs got out of bootlegging and into other things, as it was no longer profitable enough.

The War on Drugs is largely no different than Prohibition and it’s just as effective. You’re welcome to push the authorities to double down on the war, or triple, or even quadruple down on the war on drugs, I’m betting that even spending ten times the money and effort that is currently being spent will be about as effective as Prohibition.

It’s just a question of how many lives are going to be wasted before we decide to try something else.

Image search on [ starving child ] ...

scroll through the pictures for a while ...

Then realize that if it really hits the fan, you’ll be seeing that live. Right here in these United States of America.

And you won’t be able to fix it.

And if you TRY to fix it ...

YOU

WILL

DIE.

And after you’re dead, “it” still won’t be fixed.

While your guess is probably correct (that they were just passing through), they could also live there. Areas like Brookland and Fort Totten, while still rough, are at least semi-affordable. Plus, in these areas, it all depends on exactly where you live. A lot of these areas are quite safe and quiet. Talking to taxi drivers, the areas to the west (Columbia Heights, Petworth, even Mount Pleasant), are much worse in terms of random crime.

I do not share your optimism with respect to Anacostia, however. My rule of thumb is this: follow the gays. They always are the pioneers in terms of gentrification. Within 5 years, the area becomes relatively safe. I have yet to hear of any gay migration into Anacostia. Until I do, I will go nowhere near Anacostia.

The very fact that they ARE 'using' indicates that they are NOT rational at all!

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

To be very mundane: I've been in challenging work environments where technical problems were widespread, and personality clashes were common. It can be tough to accomplish a lot. Sometimes you have to shrug and say "You can't solve world hunger."

To be less mundane: If evidence of world hunger comes to your doorstep, you may have to realize that you cannot fix world hunger. Accept that. And on a very personal and immediate point: what is the problem staring you in the face, and how much danger could you be in? What steps do you need to take to change that situation and limit your exposure to danger?

Part of being a responsible prepper is to have SOME food to give away.
It’s always easier to feed someone and send them on their way than to find some place to put the bodies...

Here’s a ziplock with beans & rice, and a pint bottle of water - now get on your way and don’t come back here, you’ll get nothing more.

“Would you want to go through what he did?”

He got through BECAUSE of what he did.
If he hadn’t, he’d just be another statistic.
