Michael Moore on Reagan voters: They're dying By: Patrick Gavin December 13, 2012 09:16 AM EST

Michael Moore thinks the country is getting better — “I’m very optimistic about the future” — he says, and what explains that?

Reagan voters are dying.

In a discussion on Current TV about Sheldon Adelson on Wednesday, Moore told host Jennifer Granholm, “Adelson and all those people will be gone, just like the people who voted for Reagan, the older generation that was really behind Reagan.”

“If you were 55 or 60 years old in 1980 when Reagan ran, you’re dead now,” said Moore. “They’re not alive. They left. And when they left, you know, things got better.”

Sensing perhaps a verbal misstep, Moore clarified his comments.

“My dad is 91. I love old people. Don’t get me wrong. But, I’m just saying that the previous generations, which were willing to live under segregation, were willing to live with women making a third less than men, were willing to live with all this stuff.

So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion;respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

~ Tecumseh

Then how does he explain how George W. Bush got reelected by the same margin Obama won by just eight years ago? (Not to mention the 2010 midterms...) The demographics haven't changed THAT much in only eight years. The fact is, that Obama’s victory is a combination of the cult of personality the media has built up for him and many voters (11 Million fewer this November than 2008) simply sitting at home because the Republicans can't find a candidate that inspires anybody.

No kidding. It isn't even that hard to research this fact. The facts are even on probably his beloved Wikipedia.

The Republican Party was based on northern white Protestants, businessmen, professionals, factory workers, farmers, and African-Americans. It was pro-business, supporting banks, the gold standard, railroads, and tariffs to protect industrial workers and industry.

Wait until ObamaCare kicks in and My Father is denied healthcare due to rationning while being escorted into a Death with Dignity program

“Don’t get me wrong. But, I’m just saying that the previous generations, which were willing to live under segregation”,

.... and we had a lower crime rate—black crimes has ALWAYS been very high

“were willing to live with women making a third less’ than men,”

...less technology meant more physical labor careers, a job very few women could do: Furthermore, women were homemakers which many will tell you was NOT like the scenes on the Donna Reed Show.

“They wanted gays in the closet.”

...and fewer child molesters—all gay—, few communicable diseases etc

Holy Crap if history isn't repeating itself more and more often right now!!

Many party leaders were ready to dump Truman in 1948, but after General Dwight D. Eisenhower rejected their invitation they lacked an alternative. Truman counterattacked, pushing J. Strom Thurmond and his Dixiecrats out, and taking advantage of the splits inside the Republican Party. He was reelected in a stunning surprise. However all of Truman’s Fair Deal proposals, such as universal health care were defeated by the Conservative Coalition in Congress. His seizure of the steel industry was reversed by the Supreme Court.

MICHAEL MOORE'S WORTH $50,000,000.00

I'd *love* to see tax legislation that would immediately bring that down to $500,000 and keep it at that ceiling (inflation adjusted) for the rest of his miserable existence.I'd also like that legislation to cap his gross annual income at $75,000 (also inflation adjusted).

Just wait until their freebies run out and their parents water well runs dry. Wait until they have 4 or more years of marxism. They will be reaching for their AK47’s. Oops, the government took them - so sorry. They will get the picture eventually but unfortunately it will be too late. Another civil war? Possibly.

Half probably have no idea what socialism is, even while descending into it.

When I was growing up the nuns at St Joseph were always pounding the evils of Communism into our heads. I wouldn't doubt it if history classes don't go back further than the 60's nowadays.

My coworker's kids are in 3rd and 5th grade. Looking through their homework books, chapters featured Jimmy Carter (!), MLK, and Obama. Not one mention of Reagan or 911. Luckily, the kids are being indoctrinated by their parents...the right way.

One more for you, Michael Moore:

On the other hand, African Americans, who had traditionally given strong support to the Republican Party since its inception as the "anti-slavery party," continued to shift to the Democratic Party, largely due to the economic opportunities offered by the New Deal relief programs

Actual Reagan voters are now much older and dying, but the legacy lives in the younger generations. An important point was made since the election...that every candidate for president since Reagan was against Reagan in 1980. We had two Bushes, Dole, McCain and Romney. None are Reagan Republicans by choice. I think GWB actually carried about 2/3s of the Reagan legacy well, but clearly was a supporter of his father in 1980.

Our party has an entire generation of politicians now who grew up in the era of Reagan. Many were too young to vote, but they and their parents were inspired by RR. There is a huge opportunity to expand the legacy if we can get control of the party from the DC elite.

The tea party is very much a representative of the Reagan spirit. Point by point, it matches up to Reagan’s philosophy and his political agenda. It is up to us to educate a new generation. We need to sell why governors like Kasisch, Walker and others are implementing sound conservative solutions and why they work. We need to compare California with Texas. We have to educate the populace on the facts, and we can have another Reaganesque movement.

"I hate to admit it, but this doofus has a point. Our biggest problem IMHO is that people under 30 seem totally ambivalent on all relevant social issues."

Be it the Silent Majority, the Christian Coalition, or the Reagan Democrats, the folks who supported traditional American values, are vanishing from the landscape. How many Americans alive today have a living relative who have first hand memory with the actual experience of hardship and sacrifice during the Great Depression or the Second World War. Not many I believe. Events shape national character, and when those events fade from living memory, so does the national character we cherish. America's relative peace and prosperity since 1946 has set the stage for the leftists to prosper.
