Ann Barnhardt wouldn’t describe Islam as a theocracy. She would describe it more as a Militaristic movement founded on genocide, subjugation of females, rape and bestiality. At the time Muhammed lived there were basically Jews, Christians and pagans. Muhammed borrowed the moon god of the pagan desert Bedouins, mixed some crackpot nonsense about Allah speaking to him, and the rest is history. Islam seeks the total eradication of non-believers. My answer is to eradicate Islam before Islam eradicates Christians and Jews.
Another interpretation is that the texts in the Syriac language used by Christian Missionaries were “adapted” as the basis for the Koran. A fascinating book (by the psuedonymous author “Christoph Luxembourg” banned in Islamic countries) explores the evidence behind this view, and it’s summarized on Wikipedia.
