Virginia is moving towards making card-check—the controversial union proposal to replace secret-ballot elections with simple card-signing petitions—unconstitutional in the state.

The effort is led by State Sen. Bryce Reeves (R-Spotsylvania) who said that “no citizen” should be denied the ability to vote by secret ballot. …

Change it from 'should' to 'shall', and you got a deal!

Reeves said that the recent controversy in Michigan – where the state legislature passed right-to-work legislation over the extreme opposition of Democrats and union activists – was an unexpected boon, bringing more attention to his efforts in Virginia.

Now lets see some of the remaining forced union states make the move. At least a few of them are in GOP hands.

One for you - you know, the usual pathetic line that unions are only 6% of the workforce.

The STATES are the new battle ground - this is where the war will be fought in the next four years.

Yeah, it's going to become very clear cut now. The RTW states will prosper and the others will continue to spiral into the toilet! You just have to stand in amazement that so many morons actually think Obama will turn things around. Its analogous to the break up of AT&T. The “baby bells” flourished and now it's come full circle with SW Bell buying Pacific Telesis, moving their HQ to California and taking over AT&T. So too will the States eventually take over the Federal Government when it goes bust!

They also need to make Union dues payments anonymous through a third party so that the Union thugs won’t know who to go pressure for their lunch money / extortion fees.

Yes unions are horrible. As along as people here realize that the unions are miniscule, and not the problem they once were, and don’t mistake them as a reason for off shoring. Then I am OK. The choice isn’t between a factory in Michigan or one offshored in Asia, the choice SHOULD be between a factory in Michigan or one in Arkansas. Otherwise this whole RTW effort is pointless.

Careful, that kind of talk can get you labelled as a neo-confederate states rights racist.

I'll compromise: I'll hide my hot dog, if she can stand it.

Just so. The federal leadership, with the exception of a few in Washington, have failed us. Change will come from the states up.

Thanks for not blowing a gasket, I was flaming you pretty hard.

Anyway, the portion of the labor force that is federal workers is between 1 and 2 percent. I doubt ANYONE on this site would say they are harmless to this country. That’s my point about unions - you don’t have to be a majority to be destructive, just as the Bolsheviks were never a majority (or even a large minority), they were simply the best organized, so they got their way.
