Last month, Cam Newton was one of two GQ cover boys the other was Tim Tebow. The Tebow piece, like so many written about him, was partly an assessment of Tebows cultural standing. The title referred to him as a Sunday Savior and featured pictures, taken during his Florida Gators days, of him in a pose that conjured Jesus Christ on a cross. You get the feeling that, at some point, were going to start referring to the man as a Christian quarterback. Meanwhile, in Newtons 2,500-word profile, there was no mention of being a black quarterback the phrase did not appear. Race didnt come up, at all.
Around the same time and about 20 years after shorty Charlie Ward won the Heisman Trophy and then went undrafted in the following NFL Draft rookie Russell Wilson beat out Matt Flynn for the Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback spot. Not only had Seattle invested $20 million in Flynn, but Wilson was aside from being a Miami Vice-era Phillip Michael Thomas lookalike a barely six-foot, third round draft-pick that spent five years in college. Thats not stud pedigree.
Wilsons rise came up as a conversation topic in my Harlem barbershop when his mug popped up on ESPN. Some of the patrons were unaware of the kid. A quick recap of his story elicited this response: Man, thats some white-boy sh#t.
Translation: Some short, moderately-touted rookie that wasnt Michael Vick athletic, beating out a more proven quarterback with significantly more millions of guaranteed franchise-money is foreign terrain for black quarterbacks.
It was a poignant observation. It was also an indication that we are living in a New Day.
The black-quarterback no longer exists.

the only people still surprised at this are the so-called ‘enlightened’ liberals - who are way more ob sessed with race than the people they accuse of racism
I thought Doug Williams did that in Super Bowl XXII?
I could care less if my QB was green and had a 3rd hand growing out of his ass as long as he wins football games. This ‘Black QB” stuff is garbage. No one cares what color he is. All we care about is can he win a damn Super Bowl.
The NFL can associate itself with any culture it chooses. Depending on their selection I'll decide how interested I am in their product.
After all, I've never even wagered on the first dog fight.
What happened to Warren Moon?
Warren Moon is the color commentator for the Seahawks radio broadcast—and he is good at it.
Skin is not a culture. The African-American “culture” is a mythical creation of liberal racists. It’s a culture of death where thuggery, hate, resentment and separation are the central ideals and expression.
I know plenty of middle class Black people. None of them idolize the liberal black culture of thuggery, hate and resentment. Well, maybe one and she is not invited to be around me anymore.
I don't dispute that it's a creation of liberal racists, however I would also say it is now *very* real. I just watched an episode of "Gangland", and that culture seems to have a large number of subscribers. They may not be the folks we rub elbows with during the day, but they're out there nonetheless.
Um, perhaps we aren’t hearing the same radio broadcasts, because the Warren Moon I hear is AWFUL. But, he is unintentionally hilarious at times. On the bright side, Eddie George (broadcasting for the Titans) makes Warren Moon sound like Winston Churchill. Seahawks fan for life, and loved Warren Moon throughout his career, but his command of the English language isnt great, in my opinion.
This thug culture has been foisted by liberal/socialist elitists on Black Americans via targeted race studies (cultural cleansing).
They used to be Christian. They used to have high marriage rates. Liberals have worked hard to bring them down with criminal and hateful mentalities that are not their’s.
The KKK could not have dreamed of a better scheme for ruining Black men and women. I despise racists and they call themselves liberals and “freedom lovers”, today.
