Was she really dialing 911 with her tongue?
Who knows, with Americas crazy media?
Would it not be easier to dial 0 (zero) and have the op connect you, or does that no longer work in the USSA?
The reporter probably should have used the word call rather than dial.
I immediately thought of that poor woman trying to use a rotary dial with her tongue.
I think I am getting rather old now because the reporter has probably never seen a rotary phone. LOL
“Would it not be easier to dial O and have the op connect you?”
I can only imagine her fear and pain... thus, I am sure she didn’t have the reasoning ability that you do sitting at a computer. Raped, bound and probably in fear of being murdered... she probably thought 911 would put her in contact with the police/ambulance.
AlexW, I don’t think there are any live operators anymore so dialing 0 would do no good at all.
I'm not sure where you've been for the past 30-40 years. Dialing 0 will connect you to an operator that can assist you making a collect call to your mother. For emergencies, 911 is the number to dial in North America.
By dialing 911, your location information is automatically sent to the dispatcher. Even if you cannot communicate with the dispatcher, fire, ambulance and police will be dispatched to your location. All 911 calls are automatically recorded for use as evidence.
