I’m not a fan of the Assad regime, which leans pro-Iran. But this may be a case of the Devil you know vs. the Devil you don’t. My gut tells me having another Islamist state bordering Israel isn’t a good thing. Nor is the purge and persecution of Syrian Christians, which is probably inevitable if Islamists/Al Qaeda are in charge.
Two things have to happen.
1. We need to arm the Kurds and let them take it all. Syria, Iran, Turkey and Iraq.
2. We need a new Crusades.
