Also, here in Texas, many if not all school districts have an SRO (Student Resource Officer) on every campus

No, not all. If there is one, he's usually asleep out in the parking lot or harrassing students. He'd have been of absolutely no help in this situation. The only way to have stopped this would have been for the teacher to be armed.

Unfortunately I’m inclined to agree with you on this one. Sounds like it happened so fast it would have been hard to stop most of the deaths. I don’t know the exact timeline, but an armed teacher in another classroom may have been able to prevent a few of the deaths. This is a horrible tragedy, but no anti-gun law would have prevented it.

Or the students. I routinely carried a .22 pump action to elementary school. It stood in the corner of the classroom all day. My buddies and I would go hunt rabbit at the playa lake 1/2 mile from the school after class.

Graduated to a .30-.30 in Jr. High (roughly 1965), when we all got little Yamaha 80's and could travel out to the sandhills to stalk coyote and antelope.

I guess I'm a fossil.
