This fall, someone here on FR noted that there were 600,000 licensed hunters in Wisconsin in 2011, and there were no hunting fatalities!!

Another on that same thread noted that if you compared those 600,000 licensed hunters in Wisconsin to ‘standing armies’ of the whole world, WISCONSIN would have the 6th largest standing army on the planet.

Hey McCarthy, if you’re so concerned about murders caused by guns, why aren’t you investigating F&F or Benghazi. Oh, that’s right, those guns were used by your side for your agendas, so those are okay.

She’s a typical self-absorbed liberal. I understand her mindset: something bad happened to HER, so the entire nation should bend to HER will. It’s all about HER and HER suffering. F-— her.”””

F-— her.

She is already a 3 bagger. Don’t think anyone has tried to tap that in ages.

We've always known that Obama is anti-2nd Amendment, and just like with most other "controversial" matters he hides his true feelings in order to manipulate an outcome that can be favorable on his terms. Healthcare was a huge example of how he can be successful.

Now that he is a lame duck for four years he can act with impunity on his preferences -- wiping his feet the Constitution, ignoring Courts and "on the books" law and Congress when it suits him. He's already abused current drug laws, spit on the Defense of Marriage Act, and spent without legislative approval, implemented Don't ask, don't tell, etc., etc.
It's all gonna be brought forward and it is an aggressive agenda.

Watch out folks, it's gonna be a rough ride.

“”I can’t help but wonder if Rep. McCarthy owns a handgun of her own, or has a security person by her that does???””

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the ones we’ll hear screaming the loudest for MORE gun control have personal security and the only way to shut them up is to single them out and call them on it!!

bringing loaded firearms into an elementary school is aleady against the law

And so, if I'm not mistaken, is the murder of innocent children.

No, that's legal.

"I believe Hollywood is more at fault than anything else."

I still believe that the BATFE should be repurposed to exclusively stamp out the use of Alcohol, tobacco, firearms, & explosives in all of their products.

Then we'd be rid of Hollyweird, as they would be defunded by the public.

Well stated, ridethemiles. You said just what I’ve been thinking about this tragic day and several previous incidents. It should also be said that it was/is the liberals/progressives that abolished those full-time care programs that protected society and helped the serious mentals by housing them and taking care of them. Instead the social activists and many electeds back in the 70’s and 80’s felt that full-time institutions deprived them of their “rights” and they should be put on the streets with pharmaceuticals. The subsequent amount of crime, death, and tragedy is the result and it is both painful, and shameful.

I did a little calculation along the theme of auto deaths. When the LIBS agree to ban all autos, then I will participate in a discussion about banning guns. We have a constitution that gives us a right to own and bear an ARM, but an auto drivers license right is no where to be found in the Constitution.

2010 data (last year I could find for both)
USA Population 308,745,538

US Guns committing murder 2.8 per 100,000 pop (8,775)

US Auto deaths 10.7 per 100,000 pop (32,885)

You know I am not certain what his mental state was but, he stole those guns he used from his mom after he killed her, and punishment is not an issue for him because he killed himself.

Nothing could have prevented this except an armed person with a gun who shot him dead before he did damage.

That’s it.

That’s right. Sorry, America —you sit by and allow the destruction and murder of MILLIONS of innocent children every single day in this country. In fact, with your recent vote, you continue to CONDONE it. And yet we fake outrage and horror at this event. This society is SICK. Expect it to get MUCH worse — we live in upside down world where Christian values are prohibited, marriage and families are mocked, and families ..families all over are broken, dysfunctional, isolated, and ill. What else would we expect in a country where life is so constantly devalued?

She is only going to embarrass herself.

Particularly because no amount of Federal Gun Control Legislation can get in the way of someone stealing a gun and using it ... which is what happened in CT today with the kid grabbing mom's gun and then driving her car off to the school to shoot her.

The common theme with all these shootings is that it is a mentally ill person performing the actions. Deal with mental illnesses properly and you don't have the symptoms of untreated mental illness on the street.

Just like a quack doctor who treats the symptoms and not the disease and creates a public health hazard as a result, so too will these Dumbocrat legislators who think the mentally ill don't actually need treatment.

We used to have mental hospitals. Where are they now?

Here's some advice from people who lived through just what we are looking at here and now:

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?

The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - The Gulag Archipelago

But you can bury your guns, get down on your knees and pray they don't haul you off to the camps. And do you think they will allow you a GPS to find your hidden guns?

I acknowledge that delusional people are dangerous.

People are dangerous.

They always have been, and they always will be.

In order to protect ourselves from dangerous people, we harden our defenses.

Another thing that people are is stupid, and dangerous people take advantage of stupid people.

Travis,

Thinking that this “Gun Control” article may call for a cwiiping. We know how things turn out when statists have all the guns.

If we don’t disarm, the statists won’t be happy and will be more than willing to come and take them. What do you think?

I saved this quote from another FReeper about hiding guns: Too many want to bury their guns. Our guns will do no good if buried and not used against those who would deny us our basic rights. I don’t believe we should bury anything except those who will come for what we have. Posted on Monday, December 29, 2008 9:59:29 PM by rustyboots

The problem is not the gun but the mother.

She should have maintined control of her son and failed. She should have removed herself from hamsway from her children.

She failed to do so. The woman, not the gun is root blame

At the end of the day...someone will wake up and realize there are over 1,000 pages of gun control laws already in effect (sales, ammo, checks, use, etc). So you ask yourself....another page to the 1,000....are we truly any better? If we had ‘bear control’ laws....could we prevent bear attacks? If we had more ‘bridge failure control’ laws....could we stop bridges from collapsing? If we just had more ‘ID theft control’ laws...we’d stop ID theft. Yeah, sure.

We went through ‘booze control’ with the probation era...and it really didn’t do much.

Course, if you wanted to put 75k emotionally out-of-control folks into mental institutes...we’d all jump up and say no to that....because you don’t dare put those poor unstable people away.
