Gingrich to Obama: “Bring Back Colin Powell”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says President Barack Obama should nominate Colin Powell as secretary of state as a “bipartisan” gesture toward mending fences with Republican senators who rejected U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice for the post.

“I actually think it would not be a bad idea for President Obama to seriously consider seeing if Colin Powell would come back out of retirement because Colin did endorse him,” Gingrich told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Thursday night.

“That might be a bipartisan step that would move us in a direction of a different kind of dialogue,” he said, suggesting that Powell’s moderate views would serve the country better than any other possible nominees to succeed outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. …

Feeling vindicated about my objection to Newt for President that made most on FR that got many up ‘in arms.’

Colin Powell would have nothing to do with the State department. The State Dept. is dirty, and its run by a collective of testosterone supplementing females, many of whom are lesbians. Who in all tarnation would want to have anything to do with it?It is an accident waiting to happen
as the feminine death toll takers run amateur arms hour every day in Libya, Gaza, and Syria, using advanced ordinance SAMS and small arms that will be used to invade Israel?

Colin would walk away saying no thanks every two seconds.

I knew many heroes in VN and Kerry ain’t one of them. Traitor comes to mind.

He was a VN hero the same way Jane Fonda was. Hero to the left that is.

Your reply makes the most sense to me of all those I have read. Zero would never make the offer. Colon would never accept. The bipartisan and affirmative action arguments just went out the window. And neutering Colon’s aspirations at the same time. I say brilliant.

I can’t stand Powell. That AA hire he makes me sick, BUT, Powell would be at least a 1000 times better than Kerry.

This is why I didn’t get my hopes up when we were told that Newt would save us from Romney.

He always pulls crap like this, there is a nutty side to him.

I think this is a good tactic but it should have been linked with why kerry is a lousy choice. Obama is not going to nominate powell so it so no one has to worry about it happening (although powell is preferable to kerry). Kerry will be the nominee and our side should be focusing on attacking kerry.

Gingrich has no idea of Powell’s ties to the My Lai massacre in Vietnam. He can stick it right there.

It took a lot less time than I thought for Mr Newt to drag in dogsh@t on his shoes once more. Proof positive that he would have made a laughable POTUS.

To the obtuse amongst us - Newt is making a point, if dems want to say this was a race/gender issue, why, President Obama could nominate Powell. And those filthy nasty racist republicans, who nominated Powell and Condi - just in case the public forgot - might go along with it...

Newt - playing chess while others are looking for the chess board...

LOL! Well, it might actually help to read the article too! But I have been known to be dull of mind on occasion...could be from all that lack of reading. :)

I am not a Colon Bowel fan, at all, but when you consider the present lineup, and the “talent” pool the current administration may be drawing from....well, sometimes ‘bad’ is better than ‘worse’ ;)
