Cuomo: We Must ‘Crack Down on the Guns’ in Wake of Connecticut Shooting
politicker.com ^ | December 14, 2012 | Colin Campbell

In one of the worst school shootings in American history, over two dozen were left dead at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school earlier today. And, although many facts have yet to emerge, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called for the public to learn from “yet another senseless and horrific act of violence involving guns,” and for the government to act in response.

“We as a society must unify and once and for all crack down on the guns that have cost the lives of far too many innocent Americans,” Mr. Cuomo said in a statement. “Let this terrible tragedy finally be the wake-up call for aggressive action and I pledge my full support in that effort.”

Mr. Cuomo, of course, is not the only prominent New Yorker to call for new gun control measures, and elected officials’ press releases have been pouring in, both expressing their sympathy and pushing for new policies to slow the flow of illegal guns. Manhattan Congressman Jerry Nadler announced he was “challenging President Obama, the Congress, and the American public to act on our outrage and, finally, do something about this,” for example. Similarly, Speaker Shelly Silver tacked more broadly, declaring, “If ever there is a time to finally have a serious discussion about our country’s culture of violence that time is now.”

View Mr. Cuomo’s full reaction below:

“I was shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School this morning in Newtown, Connecticut. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the innocent victims – many of whom were young children – whose lives were claimed by this senseless and horrific act of violence. During times of such unthinkable tragedy, all New Yorkers stand together with the people of our neighboring state to grieve the loss of life and help bear the pain and anguish that will be felt by so many in the weeks, months, and years to come.

“While we don’t have all the facts and our focus must be on the victims, this is yet another senseless and horrific act of violence involving guns. We as a society must unify and once and for all crack down on the guns that have cost the lives of far too many innocent Americans. Let this terrible tragedy finally be the wake-up call for aggressive action and I pledge my full support in that effort.”

Cuomo has a mouse in his pocket named Bloomberg.

They need to worry about their own state and leave the rest of us alone.

Shut up Andy. Go read the Second Amendment. It’s not up to the government to take the rights listed in the Bill of Rights away from the people. Those rights belong to us. If you sh*theads try it, the contract between the people and the government is no longer valid.

That’s about it.

They tried this same crap after the DC sniper shootings and that didn’t work out so hot.

Unify? Is this the same society that has been buying guns at record levels the last several years, all while crime stats have been going down?

Cuomo was thinking “We need to score some political points off this tragedy. Never let a disaster go to waste”. Those self serving ghouls don’t care one whit about those dead kids, just their political goals and talking points.

Go into the inner cities and get rid of all the gangbanger guns and you might have somewhat of a valid point. Otherwise, the rest of us will insist on owning guns just to protect ourselves from thugs and crazies.

Like toadstools popping up after a rain, you can always count on liberals to start crying for gun bans after a tragedy.

Exploiting the massacre of children to further their radical Leftwing agenda... typical.

Take care of your own state before looking around at others. Your state has very restrictive gun laws and you can’t do anything about shooting in NYC. Your own backyard needs cleaning up first.

The Michigan GOP had this response to Obama's attempt to interfere in Michigan affairs but it sounds like this idiot needs a civics lesson as well.

Michigan Republican Party chairman Bobby Schostak issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s visit to Michigan today:

“It’s interesting that President Obama has chosen to stop in Michigan to propose his economic recovery plan of higher taxes, more spending and broken budgets. Here in Michigan we’ve seen actual economic recovery by streamlining government, cutting taxes and balancing budgets.

“The President’s divisive message and attack on Michigan workers is just another indication of how out of touch Pres. Obama has become. President Obama’s continued attempt to subvert state rights is an assult on our federal system.

“I encourage the former law professor and our current President brush up on the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, ‘The powers not delegated to the United states by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.’

“The President’s stance is a blatant attack on Michigan workers and demonstrates the President’s staunch support of special interest union bosses. Thankfully, Michigan Republican leaders are here to provide a firewall for Michigan workers and their families and to keep Michigan’s turnaround on course.”

Guns, knives, rocks or baseball bats don’t kill anyone. People use them and whatever else they can as weapons to kill people.

In the middle east bombs are the tool of choice. In china it is knives. I some areas it is gasoline. In others it is acid.

Crack down on relaistic video games that desensitize people toward killing. I bet you will find alot of these shooters are hardcore gamers. How else do you explain these monsters that deliberately kill little kids. Its not the guns its the games.

"Unify", under their ideology and leadership, of course.

Aggressive action?

To do what, strip American Citizens of their God Given Constitutional Rights?

Here’s my plan, Disarm Democrats, Tax Democrats at 100% and force all Democrats to live in either Detroit, Philly or New York City.

Then have the Ruskies retarget their Nuclear Missiles to hit Detroit, Philly and New York City. They already have a bunch pointed at D.C., so we won’t have to worry about that Liberal Cesspool.

Our Country is doomed, no doubt about it. One nutzoid kid pulls off a heinous crime and Law Abiding American Citizens are targeted by the Ruling Class.

No, we need to crack down on the mental health field and demand they stop allowing these mentally ill people to walk among us. If they are mentally ill lock them up so they can get the help they need.
